Ok so major name dilemma, hoping to understand consensus view on this. We have a 3 year old daughter, [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], and would like to name our second daughter [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f]. We’re concerned the names might be too similar, thoughts on this? We’re thinking [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f] would be [name_u]Rory[/name_u] for short /nn and we’d mostly call her that. We both love the name and don’t have a backup that competes. Thanks for your input!
I think it’d be fine, the names match, but in a complimentary way. I like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f] together!
I think they are too close and wouldn’t do it. But I love so many names it would be easy for me to avoid this problem.
I love both names and think they’re fine together. If you’re concern though, what about [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]? It’s one letter difference, but sets it apart further from [name_f]Audrey[/name_f].
They’re too close for me sorry. I might consider using [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f] in the middle spot, but I’d probably look for something with a different sound.
[name_m]How[/name_m] are you pronouncing [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f]? I think au-[name_u]REY[/name_u]-lee would be OK, but AU-ruh-lee too close. I’ve seen [name_u]Rory[/name_u] mentioned as a nickname for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] too. Or [name_u]Rory[/name_u] on its own is cute.
Other names with similar vibe to [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f]:
[name_f]Araceli[/name_f] (but also close to [name_f]Audrey[/name_f])
[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Eugenie[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] (love this one if pronounced [name_m]LAY[/name_m]-oh-nee)
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] is better because [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f] sounds like “orally”
Too similar for me. They start and end the same which, for me, is just too much. [name_m]Even[/name_m] using a nickname doesn’t change my mind. I like the idea of [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] or you could just use the name [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] could work too. I’m willing to bet that you like [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f] because it reminds you of your daughter, so you already have fond associations with it. There are worse sibling sets out there, but if it were me I’d look for something else.
