Audrey vs. Charlotte vs.?

Oh man just lost a looong post so I’m going to be briefer this time! A sister for [name]Emily[/name].

[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name]
are probably our front-runners but we’ve also considered:
[name]Abigail[/name]
[name]Julia[/name]
[name]Isla[/name]

Last name is double-barrelled with 1syl then 2-syl’s.

Would love input on what we’ve got so far, or any other suggestions!
Hubby loves [name]Eve[/name] but i’m not as into it (find it a little hard to say and not nuts for “evie” - I do like [name]Eva[/name] but he hates it!)
I quite like [name]Anna[/name] ([name]Annaliese[/name], Annabeth too), [name]Matilda[/name], [name]Hallie[/name] but he really does not.
Wanting something classic, intuitive to spell and say; we are really into nicknames or shortforms which holds us back on [name]Audrey[/name] and which makes us love [name]Charlotte[/name]. … Somewhat worried about popularity but not that much since I figure you just can’t control which kids your child ends up in a class with!

I love [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Audrey[/name]! I think I slightly prefer [name]Charlotte[/name]–the endings of [name]Emily[/name] and [name]Audrey[/name] are a bit matchy for me. I think [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Audrey[/name] would be lovely, though, if you don’t have a combo picked yet. And [name]Charlotte[/name] does have some lovely nicknames!

I also love [name]Eve[/name] and [name]Julia[/name]… maybe you could use them as a MN, too? I think even something like [name]Julia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] would be lovely.

Good luck!

[name]Charlotte[/name]- I really love this name, it is probably destined to be popular but it really is a gorgeous name
[name]Audrey[/name]- very classic and elegant but it’s true it doesn’t really have a nickname

[name]Abigail[/name]- pretty but is also pretty popular
[name]Julia[/name]- Pretty, it’s one of those name everyone knows but is still elegant.
[name]Isla[/name]- [name]Love[/name] love love this name. It too is growing in popularity but not hugely popular yet

some others you might consider:

[name]Scarlet[/name]- nn [name]Lettie[/name] maybe a less popular alternative to [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name]- could get both the nn’s [name]Gen[/name]/[name]Genny[/name] and [name]Eve[/name]/[name]Evie[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name]- Could get the nn [name]Anna[/name], or [name]Susy[/name] plus lots of other cute nn’s like [name]Sunny[/name], [name]Zuzu[/name], [name]Suki[/name]
[name]Alexandra[/name]- an underused classic with cute nn’s like [name]Ali[/name], [name]Alexa[/name], [name]Alex[/name], [name]Lexy[/name], [name]Andy[/name], [name]Sandy[/name], [name]Xandra[/name], [name]Sandra[/name], and [name]Sasha[/name]
[name]Gwendolen[/name]- again another underused classic, nn’s could be [name]Gwen[/name], [name]Wendy[/name], [name]Winnie[/name], [name]Dolly[/name], or [name]Lynn[/name]
[name]Evelyn[/name]- nn [name]Evie[/name] or [name]Lynn[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]- nn [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Nora[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]- nn [name]Josie[/name], [name]Posie[/name], [name]Effie[/name]
[name]Ramona[/name]- nn [name]Mona[/name], [name]Romy[/name]

Oh thank you! I had not really thought about the endings of [name]Emily[/name] and [name]Audrey[/name] being too similar- it’s a relief to have something else for the “con” side, if you know what I mean…
I do also really like [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Audrey[/name] - we might have another baby though and I can’t help but question whether I should save [name]Audrey[/name]…?
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Mary[/name] is a strong contender, and last night DH suggested [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Jocelyn[/name] - (I like [name]Jocelyn[/name] as a first; he does not…) - I like the additional possible occasional nickname of CJ but I wonder if it’s a bit long- with our last name being a combined…11 letters.
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Eve[/name] too but is it hard to say?

[name]Emily[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] are just beautiful together! And I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Eve[/name]! My second choice from your list is [name]Julia[/name], followed by [name]Abigail[/name].

Alexa400 thank you for the inspired names with nicknames! [name]Susannah[/name] I will bring up to hubby- he sometimes says he doesn’t like nicknames that come from the end of the name (crazy, huh?) - but that said he loves [name]Lottie[/name]… between us, either one of us has nixed the others on your list although maybe I should bring up [name]Genevieve[/name] nickname [name]Eve[/name] - don’t know if I ever approached it from that angle…

Kyemsma -thank you for the support for [name]Charlotte[/name] - it’s good to hear from another mom to an [name]Emily[/name]! (What would you name another girl just hypothetically by the way??? )

I’d vote for isla and then [name]Charlotte[/name] next! Ohhh isla [name]Charlotte[/name] sounds beautiful

[name]Hi[/name], yes I love [name]Emily[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] together! If I had another daughter, her name would be [name]Anna[/name], [name]Caroline[/name], or [name]Charlotte[/name]! It would be a difficult decision, that is for sure!
What is your [name]Emily[/name]'s mn, may I ask? My daughter is [name]Emily[/name] [name]Catherine[/name].

It’s [name]Emily[/name] [name]Kate[/name]! I sort of regret not going with [name]Emily[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] or [name]Emily[/name] [name]Cate[/name]…
Ahh, love [name]Anna[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] too!! Hubby doesn’t like them enough to use, unfortunately :frowning:

The suggestion of [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Eve[/name] is just lovely, and makes a wonderful sister to [name]Emily[/name] [name]Kate[/name]!

So are y’all thinking [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Eve[/name] is better than [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Mary[/name]?? [name]One[/name] thing i liked about [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Mary[/name] was that I pictured I’d sometimes say [name]Lottie[/name] [name]May[/name] or [name]Charlie[/name] [name]May[/name] (as like a quick little nickname; as in shortening [name]Mary[/name] to [name]May[/name] for the flow of it) - and while [name]Eve[/name] has the benefit of being one syl, I find it hard to roll off the tongue with the “ee” ending of [name]Lottie[/name] or [name]Charlie[/name].
Overthinking I know. [name]Just[/name] love the opinions of equally name obsessed ppl  Thanks!

[name]Emily[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is so pretty, and classic - I really like it.

As for [name]Charlotte[/name], I love [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Eve[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Mary[/name]! [name]How[/name] about [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]May[/name], instead?

I know I am so in the minority with this opinion, but I am not big on naming so that it sounds complimentary of a sibling. I think that can be a factor but the most important factor should be the name that you like the most. When the kids are adult it won’t matter if a sibset was the greatest sounding pair…but to each child their name obviously will be very important! That said, with [name]Emily[/name] I think [name]Charlotte[/name] sounds the best, BUT my fave name is [name]Isla[/name]. I think it’s beautiful!!!

Argh, I think [name]Isla[/name] is beautiful too! I saw it once in real life at a coffee shop (~3 year old little girl) and fell in love. I picture calling her Islee as a pet form…
I do agree that sibsets shouldn’t be the ultimate decider, as you said, they will grow up independent of one another. It just sort of factors in for me when the names are essentially tied.
[name]Just[/name] quite worried about the trendy factor of [name]Isla[/name]. And with our last name being hard I wanted a straightforward first name…And DH wavers on whether he would go along with it - he’s worried about pronunciation… I don’t think he likes it nearly as much as I do.
It sure would be nice to put [name]Isla[/name] in the middle, but I don’t think it sounds good with any of our contenders!

[name]Emily[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] or [name]Emily[/name] and [name]Abigail[/name]…

[name]Isla[/name] and [name]Audrey[/name] don’t match with [name]Emily[/name] [name]IMO[/name].
