What does everyone think about using [name_m]Augie[/name_m] as a full name not just a nickname? [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I love the name but can’t agree on any of the typical full names such as [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], [name_m]Augusten[/name_m], etc. so what about just going with [name_m]Augie[/name_m]? Does it work on an adult?
No, I think it’s too nicknamey. Think about when he graduates, marriage license, etc. I’d go with [name_u]August[/name_u], as it’s the most modern. [name_m]Just[/name_m] my opinion. 
I’m pronouncing it too similarly to ‘orgy’ and it’s a little nicknamey. Augustino (I know, part of the [name_u]August[/name_u] clan), Maugan or [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] could work, but I think you could get away with a boy’s name that starts with Au- and call him [name_m]Augie[/name_m] (very sweet by the way!). What about:

[name_m]Audric[/name_m]
Aulis
[name_u]Aurel[/name_u]

I might be the only one who likes it…I think it is very sweet. For me it is like naming your son [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] instead of [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. I think it is alright to use as a first.
I’d go with [name_u]August[/name_u]. Diminutive names can affect your children’s future opportunities. (which is why I feel so frustrated on behalf of girls who usually get stuck with them).
I think it’s cute…but perhaps too cute for a 17 year old boy, or a 45 year old man.
I’d say if you love it, pick a more formal name for the birth certificate, and for formal/professional reasons, and call him [name_m]Augie[/name_m] the rest of the time.
Personally, I don’t like Auggie. It reminds me of awkies which means awkward. I love [name_u]August[/name_u] as a full name, and while I wouldn’t give an [name_u]August[/name_u] a nickname, I would probably call him Auggie over [name_u]Gus[/name_u]. I don’t like Auggie could work as a full name though.
I wouldn’t use [name_m]Augie[/name_m] as a legal name. It’s too diminutive for an adult and, as a previous poster mentioned, I think that can really work against him in life. I’d find a version you love that can accommodate the nickname.
