These are three of my favorite boys names, and I’d love to hear what other berries think about them!
Also, if you had to choose of the three, which would you pick?
Thanks

I prefer the name [name]Atticus[/name], but I’d be loathe to choose it as a first name (I think it’s kinda pretentious). I’d probably choose [name]August[/name], even though I don’t really like [name]August[/name] or [name]Augustus[/name]. [name]Augustus[/name] makes me think of [name]Augustus[/name] Gloop from [name]Charlie[/name] and the Chocolate Factory.
I love [name]August[/name]! I think it’s sweet and simple, but debonair and dapper. I think [name]Augustus[/name] is stuffy, and [name]Atticus[/name] pretentious as previously mentioned. I actually find it quite distasteful, but guys love the name.
I would choose [name]Atticus[/name], but all three are cool. I don’t find [name]Atticus[/name] pretentious at all. I find it quaint and charming, like a dusty but beautiful old antique. [name]August[/name] feels slightly less clunky than [name]Augustus[/name], but both are nice.
I love [name]August[/name] and [name]Atticus[/name]! For me, the choice between [name]August[/name] and [name]Augustus[/name] is easy for me–[name]Augustus[/name] is just too much name for me. But I love both [name]August[/name] and [name]Atticus[/name]; that’s a bit harder. I lean slightly toward [name]Atticus[/name] (for the great nns and the great literary hero and the funky-cool ancient [name]Roman[/name] feel!), but I absolutely adore [name]August[/name], too, and love the nns Auggie and [name]Gus[/name], and yes, though it is only a TV character, I think Auggie [name]Anderson[/name] (from Covert Affairs), is a pretty cool namesake, too. What’s not to love about a blind [name]CIA[/name]-ex-Special Forces ninja?
I 100% agree with this!
[name]August[/name] (Aw-guest) is my favorite followed by [name]Augustus[/name] (Awe-gust-us).
I prefer [name]August[/name] to [name]Augustus[/name]. [name]Atticus[/name] is a nice enough name, though I think the vast majority of others will see it as old and pretentious.
I am a sucker for [name]Atticus[/name]. I love it. And the more and more I see it pondered as a potential name, the more usable it becomes to me.
My favorite of the three is [name]August[/name]. It just feels like the name of a very sweet and kind boy to me.
I’m not a fan of [name]Augustus[/name] at all. But I do like [name]August[/name] & [name]Atticus[/name]!
[name]Atticus[/name] would be my pick. I also happen to like [name]Abacus[/name].
[name]Atticus[/name] sounds debonair and cool, all while being approachable. I love this name.
I’ll stick up for [name]Augustus[/name] here. It’s an awesome name with plenty of history ([name]Caeser[/name] [name]Augustus[/name]) and literary cred. [name]Augustus[/name] Waters is a brilliant character in the book The Fault In Our Stars by [name]John[/name] [name]Green[/name] which has been on the NY times best seller list for about a year now and might be a movie soon. [name]Atticus[/name], of course, has more literary cred but less history I think. I wouldn’t use [name]Atticus[/name] unless you really like To Kill a Mockingbird beacuse the associacion is inesacapable. [name]August[/name] is just not my cup of tea.
In short [name]Augustus[/name]=favorite. [name]Atticus[/name]=not bad. [name]August[/name]=not my cup of tea.
Of the three, I prefer [name]Augustus[/name] (though I like [name]Augustine[/name] even more). [name]August[/name] is cool too, but I’ve known several female [name]August[/name]'s and never known a male one, which knocks it down a notch as a boy’s name in my book. And it feels too much like the name of the month. [name]Atticus[/name] is one I can’t decide if I like or not. I definitely don’t like it as much as [name]Augustus[/name] or [name]August[/name] though. It reminds me of ‘Attaboy!’ but with a cuss thrown in there. And it’s actual meaning isn’t particularly interesting to me (unless I had ancestors from Athens). I don’t find [name]Atticus[/name] pretentious though, as some have said.
oooh. All of these replies are really interesting!
I have a huge crush on [name]Augustus[/name], but [name]August[/name] is a close second. I absolutely love the nn Auggie. [name]Gus[/name] is also an option.
[name]Atticus[/name], please! I’m such a huge fan. It’s a literary classic but still a strong Greek name. Firm yet gentle.
[name]August[/name] is my favorite. [name]Augustus[/name] is just really pretentious to me, and [name]Atticus[/name] feels too wannabe hipster.
[name]August[/name] hands-down!
