August, Dashiell, and ?

We call both boys by their full names. Looking for not-too-popular but not terribly out there either (I know [name]August[/name] and [name]Dashiell[/name] are immensely popular here but I’m more concerned with the SS list/rest of the world.)

We tend toward literary and nature names. A few girl names we like but most likely won’t use for one reason or another:

[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Wren[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]

We would also prefer a name with more than one syllable as all of the middle names on our list right now are monosyllabic.

Thanks!

Congrats on your new addition. [name]How[/name] about…

[name]Posey[/name] (as a nn for [name]Josephine[/name] - love this one!!)
[name]Raven[/name]

That’s all that’s coming to mind right now!

I like [name]Wren[/name] too I saw that on your list. Also love [name]Willa[/name]! Liked most of the ones you listed. :slight_smile:

P.S. [name]Love[/name] your boys names. Well done!

Why don’t you look at [name]Linda[/name] and [name]Pam[/name]'s Sweet Spot list? I’ll give you a link on their blog post. It may pique your interest.

Thank you for all the suggestions!

[name]Caroline[/name] doesn’t feel unusual enough to me (I have no idea where it falls on the SS list, that’s just my perception of it.)

I like [name]Lark[/name], but again, monosyllabic is tough for us. I also like [name]Ophelia[/name] but I’d have to get over knowing someone with that name (not a bad association, but since I only know one, I just only think of her.)

We’ve always liked [name]Esme[/name] but it just SO doesn’t work with our last name. I like [name]Poppy[/name] but for some reason shy away from names ending in Y or IE.

[name]Juniper[/name] will go on our list, but I wonder if it’s too different from the boys’ names? [name]Stella[/name] and [name]Ramona[/name] are awesome too, putting those on the list even though there something a little harder about their sound than I usually go for.

I’ve never heard [name]Posey[/name] as a NN for [name]Josephine[/name] but have to admit I sort of love it. I’ve always liked [name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Posey[/name] is adorable.

I like [name]Pearl[/name] from the blog post, but again with the darn one syllable! I swear I am drawn to them because they won’t work for us.

[name]Ophelia[/name] --> [name]Odelia[/name]?
[name]Esme[/name] --> [name]Esther[/name]? [name]Estee[/name]? (Not knowing what the challenge is with your last name)
[name]Juniper[/name] --> I don’t think it’s too different, but with [name]August[/name] it’s sounding like a lot of months (since [name]Juniper[/name] starts with [name]June[/name]). That’s not the worst or anything but it’s something to think about. [name]Genevra[/name], [name]Geneva[/name], [name]Guinevere[/name]?
[name]Stella[/name] --> [name]Estella[/name], [name]Luna[/name]
[name]Ramona[/name] --> [name]Mona[/name], [name]Roxana[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] --> [name]Johanna[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name] --> [name]Perla[/name], [name]Opal[/name], [name]Margot[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name] --> [name]Mabel[/name], [name]Olive[/name], [name]Iris[/name], [name]Harriet[/name]
[name]Willa[/name] --> [name]Priscilla[/name], [name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Nella[/name], [name]Matilda[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]–>[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Wren[/name] --> [name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] --> [name]Mabel[/name] (although you are getting a little close to [name]August[/name] and [name]May[/name]…to me it’s somehow not as strong as in [name]Juniper[/name]).

Good point about [name]Juniper[/name], especially if she were to be called [name]June[/name] or [name]Junie[/name] at some point!

I have a deep love for the name [name]Harriet[/name], but I just don’t know about calling a girl something with hairy anywhere in it.
