I’m 27weeks with a second baby (I think boy but we don’t know) and am absolutely stuck on the name. Our first son is [name_m]Augustin[/name_m] and I really want a name that i love as much.
We don’t want another “A” name but like vowels so we are looking at a lot of “E” names. A lot of awesome names (like, for example, [name_u]Elias[/name_u]) seem to rhyme with our last name. We like [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] a lot but I worry that it SOUNDS too similar to [name_m]Augustin[/name_m]. [name_m]Augustin[/name_m] and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]…IDK…is it too similar???
Also, is it true that “A” names give kids an academic advantage and that therefore using any other letter for a second child (especially the letter “E”!!!) is a bad idea?? Ugh. I feel like this kid is going to leave the hospital without a name at this rate.
I think they sound a bit similar. I love [name_m]Augustin[/name_m] and [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] and [name_m]Augustin[/name_m] & [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] from the suggestions above though.
When I first read [name_m]Augustin[/name_m] I thought, [name_m]Aurelien[/name_m]! But since you’re not interested in “A” names, here are a few suggestions:
I don’t think [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] sounds too much like [name_m]Augustin[/name_m], and I think they go well together, but here are some other ideas. (I wouldn’t be concerned with the initial vs grades either)
[name_m]Augustin[/name_m](so handsome by the way) &
I wouldn’t worry about the “A” initials thing. I don’t think one kid would academically excel solely based on an initial. Some ideas:
[name_m]Augustin[/name_m] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Augustin[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Augustin[/name_m] and [name_m]Conrad[/name_m]
[name_m]Augustin[/name_m] and [name_m]Benedict[/name_m]
[name_m]Augustin[/name_m] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Augustin[/name_m] and [name_m]Linus[/name_m] (unless it doesn’t work with your last)
Other A names:
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]
[name_m]Archer[/name_m]
I like classics like [name_m]Edward[/name_m] or [name_m]Eric[/name_m]. But how about any of these:
Emeric
[name_u]Edan[/name_u]
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m]
[name_m]Edwin[/name_m]
[name_m]Elgar[/name_m]
Eldis
[name_m]Erroll[/name_m]
Eudon
[name_m]Emile[/name_m]
Or something with a Celtic influence… [name_m]Ewan[/name_m] or [name_m]Eamon[/name_m]?
I do like [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and think it could work with [name_m]Augustin[/name_m]. What about [name_m]Emmerich[/name_m] or [name_m]Immanuel[/name_m]/[name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] or [name_m]Orlando[/name_m] or [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m]?
Thanks everyone!!! This is really useful! Ahhh some of you remember me …yup I’m posting about this a lot
You know, [name_m]Evander[/name_m] is high on the list too but I’m not sure it sounds great with our last name (starts with D) and it sounds a bit TOO masculine to me…same with something like [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] for example.
I feel like [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] has that same softness to it that [name_m]Augustin[/name_m] does. You know, [name_m]Fox[/name_m] was our planned middle name choice for a second boy for the longest time but now we are moving towards [name_u]Winter[/name_u] instead. Or using a more common family name. IDK. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Augustin[/name_m]'s name but it “just happens” to be unusual. There’s a lot of other unusual names (that do “go” with it) that I just don’t like.
Naming a boy is hard. Naming two is damn near impossible. We already used the PERFECT name
I’m confident, with your good taste, this boy will be named just as well.
I’d forgotten that [name_m]Evander[/name_m] was previously on your list.
[name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] {and} [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] – all names you pondered at one time – would make good brother names, too.
A few more names I’m hoping will inspire a name you love as much as [name_m]Augie[/name_m]'s :):
