[name_u]August[/name_u]-in I think

I would say ‘August-een’. If that’s not the pronunciation you prefer, then I’d spell it as Augustin.

I agree with @gia.berry! I pronounce Augustine ‘August-een’ and Augustin ‘August-in’

I kind of switch back and forth, but like PP’s I prefer Augustin for the uh-GUS-tin pronunciation and Augustine got the August-een pronunciation.

I would say aw-GUS-tin because of the historical figure, St Augustine of Hippo.

I’d pronounce Augustine as aw-gus-teen.

I’ve always pronounced it as aw-gus-teen, like the city, but I’ve read that its “proper” English pronunciation should be aw-gus-tin based on the original Latin pronunciation. I feel like they’re both valid, and it’s really up to you how you want the name pronounced, but I do like the pp’s idea of spelling it as Augustin for aw-gus-tin and as Augustine for aw-gus-teen.

I say “augusteen”, and agree with @gia.berry that I’d spell it [name_m]Augustin[/name_m] if you want that pronunciation.
