Aunt Parthy/Parthie

Hello berries  I need some help. I have been researching my family tree and have sort of hit a dead end on one of the branches. After talking to my grandmother, she said the only thing she can remember about her adopted father is that he took her to visit someone she called “Aunt Parthy.” I’m not sure how it’s spelled, but it sounds like a nickname for sure to me. Any ideas where this name could come from or what it might be short for?

Thanks in advance!!

[name]Patrice[/name]? [name]Patricia[/name]? could it have been [name]Martha[/name]? Very strange, if you knew her fathers last name you could perhaps start from there?

The nickname comes from the Greek name [name]Parthenia[/name].

Two experiences with Parthie: I’ve met an older woman whose name was [name]Patience[/name] nn Parthie and I believe [name]Magnolia[/name]'s mother in the book/musical Showboat is a Parthie.

PP may have nailed it with [name]Parthenia[/name]. Other possibilities: [name]Parthenope[/name], [name]Parthena[/name], [name]Patience[/name], or possibly [name]Prudence[/name]

Thank you all! That will be a great starting point. [name]JoJo[/name] - I don’t know her father’s name or anything else except that she existed, so I really appreciate the suggestions.

I can only think about [name]Patricia[/name].
