Aurelia Pronunciation?

I just found that Nameberry pronounces [name]Aurelia[/name] as aw-Reel-ya. I have always pronounced it aw-[name]RAY[/name]-lia or oh-[name]RAY[/name]-lia. Is this pronunciation wrong?

[name]How[/name] do you pronounce [name]Aurelia[/name]?
aw-REEL-ya?
Aw-[name]RAY[/name]-lia?

A different pronounciation?

Thanks!

My daughter’s name will be [name]Aurelia[/name], and I will be pronouncing it aw-[name]RAY[/name]-lia, but it doesn’t really bother me if people call her “aw-REEL-ya”. I like it both ways, but [name]RAY[/name] is what I’m used to. There is a little girl at my church named [name]Aurelia[/name], and that is where I first heard the name.

I have heard oh-ray-lee-ah, aw-reel-ee-ah, and ah-REL-yah, and from what I’ve heard, none of them are wrong (although oh-ray-lee-ah is most correct? I’m guessing that’s the closest to the original Italian pronunciation.). All three are quite common, I go back and forth between the ray and ree sounds in the middle myself. I definitely don’t think the “ray” part is wrong, though.

Sorry, I meant that I will be pronouncing my daughter’s name with an oh- sound at the beginning, but for me it’s all kind of the same. The way I say it sounds kind of between pronunciations.
I hope that makes sense.

I pronounce it aw-rell-ia.

I’m bad at these, but in my head it’s something like or-ray-lee-ya and it never occurred to me to pronounce it any differently. It may depend on where you live and what accents come into play.

I’ve heard both, but I usually pronounce it as aw-reel-yuh. If you want to say it as ‘ray’, there’s no problem with that at all! both ways are pretty, you just maybe have to correct people ([name]Aurelia[/name] isn’t a common name at all though, so i’m sure you’ll get it said in several different ways after all).

I’ve pronounced it Oh-re-[name]LEE[/name]-ah (“oh” like the first sound of on) and Au-rel-ia lol

I try and say it how [name]Colin[/name] [name]Firth[/name] tries to say it in Portuguese at the end of ‘[name]Love[/name], Actually’. ‘ow-ray-lee-a’. However, it tends to come out more like ‘oh-ray-lee-a’ most of the time.

Thanks for all the input!

[name_f]My[/name_f] daughter’s name is aurelia, she was named after my grandmother, we pronounce it aw-rel-ea , her middle name is charlize. For nicknames we call her rellie, rel, or elia, my grandmother actually always went by elia, bc she hated her name growing up, but now she’s so proud to tell everyone her great grand daughter’s name and hear how beautiful it is.
