Aurora or Aurelia?

I love both [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], but which one do you prefer? Also what middle names and nicknames would you give to them?

I used to be a big [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] fan, but lately I prefer [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. It is stronger and I love the nickname [name_u]Rory[/name_u] (even though we don’t do nicknames). As for middle names it depends on your taste, a lot people choose honor names etc. I guess I would go with a shorter middle name.

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] - nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u] - mn [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] - nn [name_f]Alia[/name_f] - mn [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] or [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]! I like [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_f]Aura[/name_f], [name_f]Ora[/name_f], and [name_u]Ara[/name_u] as nicknames.

I definitely prefer [name_f]Aurora[/name_f].

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Cosette[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Patrice[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Nadine[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_m]Pascal[/name_m]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Fae[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Celine[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] Lynneth
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Vienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]

If I was feeling extra adventurous:
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Fable[/name_u]

This one is rough for me. I like ancient names, which these both are.

I like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], but I associate it so strongly to the natural phenomenon. That fact hangs up me up a little, just because it feels more limiting.

I might select [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] for this reason, but it would be a hard choice.

But then again, I’d say, Aurora sounds a little more forceful and plucky. I like that on a girl! And I love the fact it means “light.”

I don’t know if I could choose tbh - they both give off such different, but equally beautiful, vibes. My automatic nickname for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and for [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] is [name_u]Rae[/name_u] / [name_f]Lia[/name_f]. Middle name options for me would be something like [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] or [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u].

I like both [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], but saying them out loud now, I’m swaying towards [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. In sound she feels stronger and more grounded whilst maintaining a whimsical, magical imagery. I adore [name_f]Aura[/name_f] as a nn for both names, as well as [name_u]Rey[/name_u] ([name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]) and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] ([name_f]Aurora[/name_f]). For middles I have [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] [name_f]Fae[/name_f] (had [name_f]Snow[/name_f] as a 2nd middle but there’s an ex porn star by that name so I’m unsure now) and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].

I mean I’m an [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] so I’m biased but [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is a wonderful name and I’ve never had a problem being named it. It really doesn’t need a nickname, people in my life have never naturally given me one because most like to say my full name, but [name_u]Rory[/name_u] works.

[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] is very pretty too, and less popular if you’re worried about that.

I love [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. I’m not a big nickname person, but maybe [name_u]Ara[/name_u] or [name_u]Ari[/name_u]?

I prefer [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], obviously (my username was partially inspired by her). [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is a bit too common for my liking. I also don’t like the feeling in my mouth when I say it out loud - if that makes sense, I think it’s the R’s. It’s a pretty name but not for me. One of my go to combos when [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] was first name on my list was [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] - I loved the meaning “golden; gilded, rainbow”.

I definitely prefer [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. Never personally been able to jump on the [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] train. [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is one of my favourite [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] combos. I’d personally nickname [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]: [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Rosy[/name_f], or [name_u]Rory[/name_u].

I go back and forth on which one I prefer—I think it depends on the combo for me. I love the meaning and the latinate feel of [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], but I also adore the O sound of [name_f]Aurora[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. And nns [name_u]Rory[/name_u] or [name_u]Romy[/name_u].

Definitely [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] for me. I’m surprised to see how divided these responses are, very interesting!

I love [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] because it feels more flowy, elegant, and ancient to me. It glitters in my mind like sunlight on water. Both names are lovely with great meanings, but I just don’t like how [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] feels in my mouth to say. I think it may be a regional dialect thing. (I’m from the [name_f]East[/name_f] coast of the US, for what it’s worth.) The R’s end up blending together awkwardly when I say it out loud. [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] feels more comfortable to me, and has an irresistibly regal vibe.

I’ve never been fond of [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]'s nickname [name_u]Rory[/name_u] either (no offense to any Rorys out there) because I personally find it difficult to say due to the R’s blending together for me. I find [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] more versatile in that way–she has many more enticing nickname options in my opinion: [name_u]Rae[/name_u], [name_u]Ari[/name_u], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], [name_f]Aura[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], etc. The only potential setback is that she may often need to spell it for people and correct people’s pronunciation of it, since it can be said different ways. So if you’re looking for the simpler choice, [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is a beautiful option too.

Yes, definitely interesting! It seems [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is just winning out, though I have to say [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] is my absolute favourite. For me, one drawback for both names is their lack of easy nicknames, [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is a good one for [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], though. Actually, I think there was a [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] whose full name was [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] in a children’s book-- Pony Mad [name_f]Princess[/name_f]?

One thing about [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is that everyone knows how to say it, whereas with [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] there are a few different pronunciations (I prefer aw-ray-lee-a).

Guess I’m in the minority!

I love [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]! So elegant and ancient Latin-y and makes me think of upper crust British circles.

My impression of [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is more outdoorsy and much less posh.
