Trying to get thoughts and opinions on the name [name]Aurora[/name]. I had been toying around with using a name meaning “[name]New[/name] Beginnings” but after tons of research I couldn’t find one I liked. [name]Aurora[/name] means “dawn” which I love, and I love that its very vowel-rich. It would probably get shortened to [name]Rory[/name]. At first, my husband was complaining that it wouldn’t work on a grown woman. I showed him an article in Vogue magazine with one of the [name]Kennedy[/name]'s. Her name was [name]Rory[/name] and since then he loves it too! Can we get some middle name suggestions? We want something short and strong to balance out the more princessy feel of [name]Aurora[/name].
I think [name]Aurora[/name] has a lovely sound. I find some people have a hard time saying it though (like my husband who has problems with R’s sometimes so it sounds like he has a mouth full of marshmellow when he says it >.< ) and Rory is spunky, if not my taste.
For middles:
Aurora Belle
Aurora Jade
Aurora Jane
Aurora Jasmine
Aurora Josephine (I know it’s not short, it just sounds great)
Aurora Violet
Aurora Grace
Aurora Pearl
Aurora Elaine
Aurora Fay/Faye/Fae
Aurora Blythe
Aurora Sabine
Well, we have exactly the same taste then! I am absolutely LOVING [name]Aurora[/name] right now, as well as the nickname [name]Rory[/name]! Here are some ideas:
I love the idea of [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Liv[/name] as a combo. Or even [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Lily[/name]. Or [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Nell[/name]? Something short-and-sweet goes so well with [name]Aurora[/name]. I like the suggestions of [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Eve[/name] and [name]Aurora[/name] [name]June[/name], too. What about (sorry for repeats!):
I had a little girl in my kindergarten class named [name]Aurora[/name]. All the kids could pronounce it and she did not go by “[name]Rory[/name].” She was very sweet, smart, and pretty.
This is one of my favorite names and at the top of my list (and I also [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Rory[/name]!). There have been several posts on here about difficulty people have pronouncing it, so if you do a search for the name, you will find the previous posts. I can see the issue folks have (my husband has trouble with it too), but when I pronounce it more like OH-rora, it is easier to say and ends up sounding still like it’s supposed to, if that makes sense.
I love the short strong middle pairings:
[name]Aurora[/name] [name]Jade[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] [name]Kate[/name] (my absolute favorite!!)
[name]Aurora[/name] [name]Gwen[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] [name]Bryn[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] [name]Lane[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] [name]Bess[/name]
My daughter is [name]Aurora[/name] ([name]Rory[/name]) [name]Whitney[/name]. [name]Whitney[/name] is a family name, so it’s probably not what you’re looking for, but we get pretty positive feedback on her name in general; having the flowy, girly long name and spunky nickname gives her good options as she grows.
