But I would quickly eliminate the name from my list if too many people would pronounce it as

Is there an Australian pronounciation to avoid this?

I am not Australian but I bet a lot of people would prn it Clah-rah. I’d pronounce it that way and I’m in the US, so I imagine it would be even more in Australia.
I think [name]Claira[/name] does look made up, but to me not in a trashy way. I think people would pronounce it the way you want, but I think if she told people her name is “[name]Claira[/name]” people would probably still spell it “[name]Clara[/name]”
An Aussie here-its sort of a mix really, but there tends to be more people pronouncing it Clah-ra. [name]Both[/name] ways are legitimate, just reinforce the way you say it and it should be fine.
