I prefer [name_u]Hudson[/name_u]. [name_m]Austin[/name_m] sounds a bit too dated and overused to me.

I voted [name_u]Hudson[/name_u]! I used to really like [name_m]Austin[/name_m] until I met an [name_m]Austin[/name_m] who went mostly by [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] (Not sure if that’s an Australian thing though)

[name_m]Austin[/name_m] sounds a bit dated to me! I was born mid-nineties, and I feel like every other boy was named [name_m]Austin[/name_m] (fits right in with [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], [name_u]Cody[/name_u], [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]). Not anything wrong with the name, and if you like it, that’s great! It’s not an old name by any means, I just would put it on par with naming your child [name_f]Heather[/name_f], [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f], or [name_u]Ashley[/name_u]. It was so over done for a long time, that I don’t think parents are using them anymore!

[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] sounds more fresh to me. It is a little more down to earth, and I only know of one little boy named [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] in real life. That one gets my vote!

Good luck!

I much prefer [name_u]Hudson[/name_u]. It’s fresh and the right mix of fun/cute and serious/mature. And it isn’t too popular. As others have said, [name_m]Austin[/name_m] feels a bit dated and not quite as classy (to me at least).

I’m not super fond of surnames as given names but between these options I definitely prefer [name_u]Hudson[/name_u].

I love surnames as first names. [name_u]Hudson[/name_u]!

I prefer [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] of the two as it does sound a little fresher, and has quite a spunky, yet gentle, feel to it.

[name_m]Austin[/name_m] does feel a little stale, and also, it makes me think of [name_m]Austin[/name_m] [name_m]Powers[/name_m] which while it isn’t too bad an association, it isn’t great either.

I was actually really surprised by other people’s responses, I thought [name_m]Austin[/name_m] would be more popular! I think [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] sounds too much like a surname for my taste, which is why I didn’t pick it.

I didn’t realize other people find [name_m]Austin[/name_m] dated (I didn’t think it was fresh either, but didn’t think it was out-of-date), but that might just be where I live… I’ve never met an [name_m]Austin[/name_m], and my sisters grew up in the 80s/90s, and they didn’t go to school with any! In fact, one of them now loves the name [name_m]Austin[/name_m], which she wouldn’t if she thought it had been overdone (she generally likes more unusual names). [name_m]Austin[/name_m] sounds handsome to me, though it is a little plain for my taste. It also gives off an All American type vibe to me.

Maybe variations could help freshen it up? [name_m]Auston[/name_m] and [name_u]Austyn[/name_u] aren’t appealing to me at all, but [name_u]Austen[/name_u] is interesting, especially if you’re a fan of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u]'s work. [name_u]Dallas[/name_u] also comes to mind, I feel like I get a similar vibe from it.

Great input so far - thanks everyone! I am a little surprised that so many of you find [name_m]Austin[/name_m] so common/dated because I literally never met an [name_m]Austin[/name_m] growing up (or now!) Might be a regional thing. I agree that [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] is definitely “fresher” and it is getting popular now though, I know a couple little boys with that name.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] is fine, but my vote went to [name_m]Austin[/name_m]. I meet a bunch of little Hudsons in my area. It just sounds a little more clunky to me, whereas [name_m]Austin[/name_m] has a cool, fresh, cowboy/artsy feel. I know that it was used a lot in the 90s, but I don’t hear it a lot these days.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
