Australian Berries- how many boys called River have you met (in Australia)?

[name]Hi[/name]!
I wanted to ask anyone on here from Australia how many boys called [name]River[/name] you have come across in Australia? What was your reaction/initial thoughts when you learned his name was [name]River[/name]?
My partner and I are still tossing up between the names [name]Ry[/name] or [name]River[/name] for a boy. We both agree that we would probably go with [name]River[/name] if we could be sure it won’t be a be a problem for him. If it grows in popularity, it will probably be fine, but I cant find any evidence to indicate that it is growing in popularity in Australia.
Therefore, we are leaning towards [name]Ry[/name], as it seems the safer option, even though it is also a little different. We love both names, but for both of us, there is something a bit more special about [name]River[/name], we just dont want to cause him to be bullied etc for having an ‘odd’ name.
Thanks in advance!

My cousin is called [name]River[/name]… I like it better than [name]Ry[/name]. We are in NSW  I find looking names up on FB handy for that kind of thing

Thanks for your reply Sorrelorelei! We are also in NSW  I did actually do a search for [name]Rivers[/name] in our area on FB and found only 2.
[name]Do[/name] you mind me asking how your cousin has found having that name (amongst school peers etc)?

I’m from [name]Sydney[/name] never met a [name]River[/name]. [name]Love[/name] the name for either sex. I think it’s more familiar now because of fire fly and the actor. I think he would get more compliments then teasing. Also it dost rymth with anything.

I’m in Australia. I’ve never met anyone named [name]River[/name] and I’m a teacher so I meet lots of kids. I think [name]River[/name] is really cute and it’s way cuter than [name]Ry[/name]!

A friend of mine lives in Australia and has a [name]River[/name]. Can’t tell you what area she lives in because I don’t know.

I am in NSW and know 1 preschool aged river.

I think it’s a great name and prefer it to [name]Ry[/name]

I don’t mind [name]River[/name]. I don’t know any (we live in [name]VIC[/name], and im a kiwi - non i know of at home either) but I know 2 Riders (one boy, one girl) and figure that has way more teasing potential.
[name]River[/name] nn [name]Ry[/name] (or Ri or [name]Rye[/name]) is cute!

I’ve never met or heard of a [name]River[/name] (we’re in [name]Melbourne[/name]).
I definitely prefer it to [name]Ry[/name], which I would assume is a nickname and not a full given name.

Never met a [name]River[/name]. I, however? Have a cousin called [name]Reeve[/name]. I think [name]River[/name] is much cuter. And I’d prefer [name]Rhys[/name]/[name]Reece[/name] over [name]Ry[/name]; it doesn’t seem like a complete name to me.

I don’t know a [name]River[/name] either but one of my nameloving family aged 12 y.o. says she likes [name]River[/name] for a girl.

I have a friend name [name]River[/name]; only it’s his nick name because his last name’s Pond, and his first name is (unfortunally) [name]Constantin[/name].

I only know one personally, a 2 year old in my sons swimming class. And one of my work colleagues is an aunty to a 3 year old [name]River[/name].

I am in [name]Victoria[/name], so this might not have any bearing on you depending where you are but there were 21 little boy [name]Rivers[/name] and 9 little girl [name]Rivers[/name] born last year in my state.

I would be delighted to meet a little [name]River[/name], much more so than if I met a little [name]Ry[/name], but that’s just me. I’m sure you’ll choose the right one for you.

Good [name]Luck[/name]!
