Ava Charlotte...how boring

So I’m quite fond of [name]Ava[/name] right now, but not with it’s number 5 ranking.
I normally don’t care about popularity much, but going from a birthname that is not even listed in the top 1000, and probably not even the top 2000, to number 5 is quite the jump.
[name]Ava[/name] was ranked 739th the year I was born, but it’s boomed to the top 10 since 2005. That’s a LOT of Avas, it feels weird going from a name I’d NEVER met or heard of anyone with until my 16th year, to a name that I’ll hear a lot more.

Couple it with [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name], beautiful and it’s very…expected.
I want a second middle name, but nothing is gelling right.

So two questions:

  1. Should I nix [name]Ava[/name] and find something fresher?
  2. Any second, slightly whimisical, not so common-not too out there middle name ideas?

Aw, I love [name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]! I don’t think it’s boring at all, or even predictable. [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name], [name]Ava[/name] [name]Marie[/name], or [name]Ava[/name] [name]Grace[/name] would be predictable, lol. Or [name]Ava[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name].

What about:

[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Wren[/name] (or [name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Lark[/name]–I love the idea of a bird name with your whole singing aspirations!)
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Laurel[/name]/[name]Ava[/name] [name]Laurel[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Delaney[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Xanthe[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Zoe[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Noelle[/name]/[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Natalie[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Winona[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Winter[/name]

I can’t really think of anything that whimsical, haha, sorry. I keep coming back to [name]Winter[/name]/[name]Winslet[/name], but I don’t think either sound amazing with [name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]…

I love both [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] and I think that they sound wonderful together… just like everyone else!!
What is it that you like about these names?
If its the a-v combo, there are alternatives: [name]Avery[/name], Avonlea
If its the short v name: [name]Eve[/name], [name]Eva[/name], [name]Ivy[/name]
I’ve found that my love of [name]Charlotte[/name] is based on the classic royal name: [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Victoria[/name], [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name]
It takes a little brain power, but once you’ve figured out the basis of what you like in a name, its easier to find alternatives, and the popularity ratings don’t seem to matter as much.

You think it’s okay? Oh yeah, [name]Rose[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]Marie[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name] are the standard middle names! lol

I like [name]Laurel[/name], but it’s a bit too…demure for me. [name]Even[/name] though it is my second birth middle name! lol
I like [name]Noelle[/name], and [name]Natalie[/name]. But I worry that’s too “[name]Christmas[/name] time”. :frowning: I’m born in [name]April[/name]!
[name]Winslet[/name] has been growing on me, but the [name]Kate[/name] [name]Winslet[/name] association wards me off.
[name]Delaney[/name] is an idea though…

[name]Ava[/name] just hit me one day, and it seemed to be great. It’s got a blend of lightness but it’s grounded too. It sounds so right coming from my mouth.
I do like [name]Avery[/name], but spelled [name]Averie[/name]. And unfortunately [name]Averie[/name] is rather juvenile and gives off the air of being flighty. I also like A names, and A endings. Not a fan of E beginnings.
[name]Charlotte[/name] because of the meaning, and sound, as well as feel. Overall I just love it.

I have been a name nerd for a long time now and yet [name]Ava[/name] still entrances me I just love it and the combo of [name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] is gorgeous.

Leave [name]Ava[/name] at the top of your list if you love her, she has the IT factor.

rollo

If you love the name, then you should keep it. Popularity shouldn’t be an issue, if it is, then maybe you don’t love the name enough?

I think [name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] is adorable.

I’m about 80% in love with [name]Ava[/name], the rest of me is a bit iffy, but I do love it.

  • @ rollo, Thank you for your opinions. I’m feeling a bit better with my [name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] idea now.

[name]Avalon[/name] is a nice alternative. You still have the [name]Ava[/name] and it isn’t as popular or juvenile.

Well I’m partial since I have a [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Avery[/name]!
But here are some suggestions:
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Bree[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Truly[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Everly[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Emma[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Emilia[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Grady[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Noelle[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Lee[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Lynn[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Rue[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Willow[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Dylan[/name]

I do like the idea of [name]Emma[/name] in the middle, but then I feel like the whole name is too “common”! [name]Ava[/name] ranks number 5, [name]Emma[/name] is number 3, and [name]Charlotte[/name] is 27.
It clashes with my personality, I’m so more complex than the feel those names give off as well. Grr.

I don’t think [name]Avalon[/name] is me, but thank you for the suggestion!

[name]Ava[/name] is a beautiful name and has earned its popularity [name]IMO[/name].

Like I have ALWAYS said to family & friends, popular doesn’t mean bad or ugly. It just means other people have recognized it’s a gorgeous name. [name]Don[/name]'t let that stop you from using it.

Oh I agree with you, it’s not just the popularity.
It’s that it also feels too “Common”, there’s nothing…“special” about it, nothing that makes people (or me for that matter) go “Ohh! [name]How[/name] refreshing. Such a pretty name!”

I’d like a name with that wow factor for me, you know? [name]Averie[/name] has that more than [name]Ava[/name], but it’s very juvenile, and flighty I hear. I don’t like that aspect of it.

[name]Don[/name]'t love [name]Ava[/name] but loving [name]Charlotte[/name]. [name]One[/name] of my all time favorites.

My eldest daughter is named [name]Ava[/name] [name]Dulcea[/name]. It’s still my favorite name combo of all time. A few months after having her I was back to waiting tables and one of my customers was about to pop and she was naming her your exact [name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]. [name]Even[/name] though I prefer my combo I still found [name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] to be quite a charming combination! I know of two other [name]Ava[/name]'s, [name]Ava[/name] [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Ava[/name] [name]Michelle[/name]. I still prefer your combo over both of those!

And don’t let it being popular concern you too much. You can’t stay ahead of every list and trend so if you go with something different, don’t be surprised if it catches on also. [name]Just[/name] use the name you really love and don’t let anybody ruin it for you.

[name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] is very pretty, I don’t see anything plain about it. It’s not distinictive like Auva [name]Charlotta[/name] or whatever but it’s not plain. I think it fits a range of personalities - studious, quiet, outgoing, sporty, witty, etc. but I stress that doesn’t mean I think it’s plain.

Then again, [name]Ava[/name] is probably rare for your age group so it would be more distinctive. [name]Charlotte[/name] is common in my area for girls and women in all age groups but it still sounds new and pretty to me. It might not even be common among your age group in your area.

EDIT: I have to agree with tinabina that Ava has earned its popularity. Sometimes I think people look at popular names the wrong way. It’s popular because it’s beautiful! Anyway, while I like to stay out of the top 100 with my name choices, if there’s a name I really love, I keep it around. If you really love the name Ava, then sod popularity. Just go for it.

DOUBLE EDIT:
Ava Felicity Charlotte
Ava Romilly Charlotte
Ava Lorelei Charlotte
Ava Isabelle Charlotte / Ava Isabel Charlotte / Ava Isobel Charlotte
Ava Mathilde Charlotte
Ava Yasmin Charlotte
Ava Jane Charlotte
Ava Willow Charlotte
Ava Fabienne Charlotte
Ava Melody Charlotte
Ava Lucienne Charlotte
Ava Lucille Charlotte

[name]Ava[/name] is a great name- it’s popular for a reason! It’s definitely in my top 10 of the top 100 (ha) and I see absolutely nothing wrong with a popular name. I think people forget that there are good things about having popular names just like there are good things about having uncommon names- popular does not equal bad, as nameberries so often think. Honestly I think it’s much easier to go through life with a common, boring name than one that’s so uncommon that people think it’s weird, which may happen with a lot of names berries like. I can’t imagine [name]Ava[/name] has many difficulties in the pronunciation and spelling department, either.
I think you should stick with the name you love- don’t go [name]Aviana[/name]/[name]Avery[/name] (I really don’t care for [name]Avery[/name]/ie)/[name]Avalon[/name]. if you like [name]Ava[/name] don’t settle for something else just because it’s less popular.
With [name]Ava[/name], I’d personally go for full-out bizarre on the middle name. I’d go straight past [name]Noemi[/name] all the way to [name]Nefertiti[/name] for a middle. But you said you want want toned down, so I’ll try:
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Noemi/name
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Ariadne[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Seraphine[/name]/a
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Briallen[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Carys[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Rhiannon[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Boheme[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Manon[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Sarai[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Juno[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Amoret[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Ayelet[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Sinead[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Saskia[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Cosima[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Marietta[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Juno[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Thomasina[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Xiomara[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Isis[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Iris[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Coraline[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Meadow[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Indira[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Anais[/name]

I’m going to echo the person who suggested [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]. [name]Ava[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] flows nicely, I’ve just never been a fan of [name]Ava[/name]. So something similar sounding, like [name]Ivy[/name], would flow nicely too.

[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Ella[/name] Charotte
[name]Isla[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]

I’m a big fan of the name [name]Charlotte[/name], I’d bump it up to fn status!
