My wife likes the name Avalia (ave-a-leah). We’d likely call her “[name_f]Ally[/name_f]” for short, which I think is cute.
The name is extremely rare and I’m a little concerned about that. I haven’t seen any alternate spellings that seem much better. Any suggestions or comments?
I think Avalia is very pretty! I have to say, though, it might be prone to pronunciation issues. I immediately thought it was pronounced “[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-VA-leah”, with the emphasis on the “va” instead of on the “lia”. Both pronunciations are lovely, in my opinion. Overall, I think Avalia is wonderful. It’s extremely uncommon, but easy to spell and feels like an established name. [name_f]Ally[/name_f] makes a great nickname choice! Also, I think this is the best spelling for the name, as I haven’t seen any others and this one is wonderful.
Are you suggesting it would be pronounced [name_f]Ave[/name_f]-a-[name_f]LEAH[/name_f]? I think you would have pronunciation issues with this name the way you like it, especially since more common names with similar spellings are pronounced with emphasis on the second syllable (i.e. [name_f]Amalia[/name_f], [name_f]Adalia[/name_f]). That said, I think ([name_m]Ah[/name_m]-VAH-lia) is a beautiful name. Not a big fan of [name_f]Ave[/name_f]-a-[name_f]LEAH[/name_f].
Btw, it’s not the word available. That would be availa. So I don’t that would be an issue.
