[name_u]Avery[/name_u] is one of my favorite names for a boy! It is crazy popular for girls (16 nationally right now) but it is not unpopular for boys. 191 on the boys’ list is still pretty high! Would you be surprised to hear a boy named [name_m]Joel[/name_m] (187), [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] (189) or [name_u]River[/name_u] (197)? [name_u]Avery[/name_u] is still very familiar on the boys side, just not as ubiquitous as it is for girls. I think it’s still pretty firmly unisex.

This is a really great point— thanks for the perspective!

I really like [name_u]Avery[/name_u] for a boy, much more than for a girl. Very dignified. I definitely prefer it to [name_u]Ashton[/name_u].

As I said before I love [name_u]Avery[/name_u] for a boy, and it’s very usable [name_f]IMO[/name_f] despite being more common for girls. If you’re worried pairing the name with a clearly masculine middle name will give him more flexibility if he doesn’t like sharing his name with girls or there is too much gender confusion.

I really like [name_u]Avery[/name_u] for a boy! I feel like [name_u]Avery[/name_u] for a girl is rather trendy (although I do like it), but [name_u]Avery[/name_u] as a male name is super classy and handsome!

Okay, I know so many girls named [name_u]Avery[/name_u] so I think girl whenever I hear it. I first heard it as a girl’s name, similar to [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. So I do find it more feminine.

I don’t think this means it doesn’t work for a boy! It’s definitely usable even if people think girl when they hear it. I’d like to meet a boy named [name_u]Avery[/name_u].

Same as katinka! [name_u]Love[/name_u] this name, prefer it very much over [name_u]Ashton[/name_u]. And I love it for a boy.
