What are your thoughts on the name Avonlea [name]Lucia[/name]? Pronounced as ave-en-lee and loo-cee-uh. I want her to have the nickname [name]Avie[/name] [name]Lu[/name] [ave-ee] and I think [name]Lucia[/name] might be my favorite “lu” name for Avonlea. Are there any other “[name]Lu[/name]” names that you think go well? I’m open to the spelling [name]Lou[/name] if need be.
I think people will have problems pronouncing Avonlea and [name]Avie[/name] and perhaps [name]Lucia[/name], so I suggest making one of the names a little less unusual. Maybe [name]Avis[/name] [name]Lucia[/name] or [name]Avery[/name] [name]Louisa[/name] to keep the [name]Avie[/name] [name]Lu[/name]/[name]Lou[/name] nn which seems to be what you want.
for me, this combo is just a big tongue twister I want to like it, but I keep trying to say it out loud and I can’t seem to get it out right with normal speed of speech, only if I go really slow. I think it’s the lee-loo-cee area that’s thwarting me.
Would you like Avienda? [name]Avianna[/name]?
There is also the name Lua that is rather rare (unless you are a [name]Baha[/name]'i) that would be less of a mouthful in the middle. Or [name]Lula[/name]. For me, even changing [name]Lucia[/name] to [name]Louisa[/name] is still a bit hard to say.
Who knows…maybe I just need some speech therapy here Avonlea and [name]Lucia[/name] are both pretty names.
Each name is pretty, but together they are a bit of a tongue twister.
[name]Aveline[/name] [name]Lucia[/name] could get you the same nn.

i thought at first that you would pronounce it [name]Ah[/name]-vaghn-lee like the book [name]Ann[/name] of Avonlee or however it was spelled.
I honestly don’t think anyone would know to pronounce it with all those flat A sounds…and that mn looks like [name]Lu[/name]-chee-ah to me In fact a friend of mine named her daughter that and they call her Luchie (loo-chee) for short…it’s adorable
[name]Both[/name] names are pretty, [name]Lucia[/name] in particular I love but I agree the combo is a bit much. The spelling of Avonlea makes me want to make it [name]Avon[/name]-[name]Leah[/name] and the -a ending of [name]Lucia[/name] actually reinforces that. Avonlea again, it’s pretty but it just seems so over the top and [name]Avon[/name] makes me think of the make-up. [name]Avie[/name] [name]Lu[/name] is cute. What about…(and obviously feel free to mix and match middles and firsts)
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Lucia[/name] (though I know [name]Ava[/name] is way more mainstreamed than Avonlea)
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Lucienne[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Lux[/name] ([name]Lux[/name] is Latin for light, root of [name]Lucia[/name])
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Luz[/name] (ditto, but Spanish, [name]Luz[/name] sounds like Loose which has always been a drawback for me, but in middle it’s not so bad I think)
[name]Avalon[/name] [name]Lucerne[/name] (double place name though)
[name]Avalon[/name] [name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Avalon[/name] [name]Lucille[/name]
[name]Avalon[/name] [name]Luna[/name]
[name]Aveline[/name] [name]Louise[/name] (very French, very elegant)
[name]Aveline[/name] [name]Lunette[/name] (French stunner to me!)
[name]Avery[/name] [name]Lucerne[/name]
[name]Avery[/name] [name]Lula[/name]
[name]Avery[/name] [name]Luna[/name]
[name]Aviana[/name] [name]Lucerne[/name]
[name]Aviana[/name] [name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Aviana[/name] [name]Lunette[/name]
[name]Aviana[/name] [name]Lux[/name]
[name]Aviana[/name] [name]Luz[/name]
Avonlea [name]Lewis[/name] (see thoughts on boys’ names below)
Avonlea [name]Louis[/name] (see thoughts on boys’ names below)
Avonlea [name]Luca[/name] (usually a boys’ name, but I think you could)
Avonlea [name]Luke[/name] (ditto above - I feel like Avonlea is so over the top femme that a boyish middle is appealing, maybe just me)
Avonlea [name]Lux[/name]
Avonlea [name]Luz[/name] (I think the one syllable names are good with Avonlea)
Avonlea [name]Luna[/name]
Avonlea [name]Lunette[/name] (perhaps my favorite Avonlea option)
[name]Eva[/name] [name]Lucia[/name] (I normally wouldn’t like the matching endings, but in such a classic seeming combo like this, it’s OK - I’d pronounce [name]Eva[/name] like [name]Ava[/name])
[name]Eva[/name] + other [name]Lu[/name] names here, although this would be more [name]Evie[/name] [name]Lu[/name] with long e, even if you got [name]Eva[/name] as [name]Ava[/name]…
Good luck!
Thanks everyone for the thoughts! However I’m not really looking for another Av- name. I love Avonlea, so that’s not going to get replaced.
Yes that is more how I’m saying it! I’m just really bad at writing out pronunciations. And [name]Lucia[/name] can be pronounced several ways, not just “loo-chee-ah.”
