I did a google search and discovered that these names are the two leading protagonists in the pop culture erotica novel 50 shades of grey. Oh no! I didn’t know!
Would anyone get the reference or would I be safer to use ‘[name_f]Anna[/name_f]’ or a variation instead? It could otherwise make for very awkward introductions…:o
Uh oh! I think alot of ladies would get the reference, especially with the movie being released at some point soon, it will become more obvious, it’s a shame because it’s a lovely sib set.
I don’t think many people will make the connection. Of anything they’ll think it’s a coincidence. Plus-like many things in pop culture, over time the popularity of 50 Shades will fade, and the association will be lost. 
I don’t think it really matters. It’s just another phase that’ll pass.
For what it’s worth, I’ve never read 50 Shades of [name_u]Grey[/name_u] and I don’t know anyone who has. I don’t think it’s really that popular, it certainly isn’t around where I live. I’ve only seen one store here stocking the books!
[name_m]Christian[/name_m] and [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] are both great names that both have a long and rich history; they were around a long time before 50 Shades, and they’ll be around a long time after.
I haven’t read the books. so I wouldn’t make the connection. But I seem to be in the minority!
I think that some people will make the connection, but I’m not sure if it’s enough to keep you from using a name you love. There are all sorts of unfortunate name connotations for just about any name, and this is one that will only be present if your children are together and considered as a set, so it’s not like it’s going to be awkward for [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] or [name_m]Christian[/name_m] to apply for a job with their respective names.
I think people might think of it but they are also pretty well known names to begin with. If you are concerned about it, it might be better to pass though. At least your mind would be at ease about it.

I wouldn’t use [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] with [name_f]Anna[/name_f] of any variation.
Those books are really popular. I wouldn’t do it. I wouldn’t even use [name_f]Ana[/name_f] either because she’s called that in the books as well.
Nearly everyone I know has read this book. I think it would be pretty odd and people might think you did it on purpose.

I’m in my late 20s and I’ve never read any of the books and I don’t plan on seeing the film anytime soon, the handful of friends who have, we’ve never really talked about the book. But I’ve read enough online/am aware enough of it’s content that I would have gotten the reference even without your thread title.
Maybe [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] would make a better mn for a daughter instead of a fn? It would make it less obvious and your husband would still get to use the name he loves. (I’m sure even he can see that it might be unwise to use it as a fn considering the context of the cult book/film).
