[name_m]Hi[/name_m] again!!
Choosing baby #3s name is a challenge.
Hubby and I cant agree and both seem to not be compromising. I know we will get there, even if its once she is born 🩷
Hubbys one and only only suggestion is [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. A lovely name, dont get me wrong, but I just cant connect with it. But no matter how many times I ask, thats still his only pick, argh.
[name_f]My[/name_f] top three in order are [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Ayla[/name_f].
(I think lily works as a middle name for [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] really nicely!)
We already have a [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] & [name_f]Evie[/name_f], and we both tend to like vintage/classic names.
How do we compromise!?
Any suggestions for similar alternatives?
Help!!
From your top three I’d personally go with [name_f]Cora[/name_f] - probably [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] (although I prefer [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] or [name_f]Cora[/name_f] Lilia) to compromise with your husband
Other names that come to mind:
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Mia[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]
[name_f]April[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruby[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eden[/name_f]
What about [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f]? It’s a bit of a blend of the 2 and it’s rare while still being easy to say
From the names, [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is my fave. I feel like it goes amazing with [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] because it has the same spunk and classic feel as them
There’s an app, I had to look it up because I heard about it forever ago from SJ Strum (she has a baby name channel on YouTube, podcast and Instagram page called [name_f]Baby[/name_f] Name [name_f]Envy[/name_f] if you’re looking for inspo) but the app I believe is called Kinder and it’s pretty much Tinder for baby names and you swipe on names you like
Might seem silly but maybe getting your husband to do something like that with you if you have the time to could help him open up past [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
I think they’re all beautiful names and I love the pairing of [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] and lily
But I think [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] goes along with your other kids names [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] & evie.
Some other similar names for lily:
[name_f]Lillie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilou[/name_f]
[name_f]Liliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilian[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilith[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite name on your list is [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]! It matches great with sisters [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f]!
I like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] the most with your daughters’ names [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is a gorgeous combination
As previous posters suggested, [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] could be a beautiful alternative if you can’t agree on the name. She could substitute for [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Lily[/name_f], she’s very easy to pronounce and while being quite a unique choice, she still has very similar and popular sounds that could fit in with the current trends
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is absolutely enchanting! I also love [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], and that seems like a great compromise for your husband.
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is cute and not one i had considered. I feel like she would end up with nn [name_f]Lily[/name_f], that i wouldn’t be keen on.
[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] came about as a compromise between is pick of [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and mine of [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. So i feel a bit reluctant to move further when I think he could meet in the middle just a tad!! Stubbornness on both our parts.
Im falling for [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] more each day, Its so sweet.
[name_f]My[/name_f] second favorite is [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], being closer to [name_f]Lily[/name_f] It might be easier to agree on… eventually. 4 weeks until due date now is added pressure.
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f] from your list have also been high on my list, so beautiful! Only to be scratched off as a “no” from my husband.
I might need a new approach on how to bring up suggestions. Ill try the name app as someone else mentioned.
[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] is great! It feels like a blend of your style and [name_f]Lily[/name_f]!
Maybe [name_f]Lilla[/name_f]?
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] is lovely too - strong but sweet
I’ll throw in the suggestions of [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], [name_f]Lina[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]
Looking at your list [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] would be a great compromise as the ‘a’ ending of [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] + [name_f]Cora[/name_f] along with the stylish vintage feel of Evi3 and Haz3l whilst sharing a lot of the similar sounds to your husband’s love for [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. However I would ditch the h I prefer [name_f]Lila[/name_f] spelling wise.
Have you thought of [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]? I think [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] would also work as a compromise between your [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and his [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] daughter is [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] and I’m always complemented on her name. I think she works with big sisters names too.
I like Cora & Lilah - on their own and also as sisters to Evi3 and H@zel.
I don’t warm to Ayla - I find it really harsh sounding - and I also don’t think it’s especially easy to say with Lily as a middle.
To compromise, you might Cora-Lily (ie double first name), Lila/Lilah (if you’re OK with the nn Lil or Lily sometimes), Leah, Lilia, Lilith, Lily-Anne/Liliane (prefer Liliane to Lillian in terms of pronunciation), or Lily-Rose (I find Lily-Rose so pretty!). What about Lilou (“Lee-Loo”) the French diminutive for Lily? Means you can call her Lee, Lily or Lou for short!
The spelling of Lilah/Lila/Lyla is definitely something to think on more if we go with that. I have seen some Lila’s pronounced as “lay-la” whereas I would say “Lie-la”. I dont want to set her up to correct people her whole life!
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is lovley. I have already compromised with my original pick of [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] x [name_f]Isla[/name_f] = [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]. And im being stuborn not wanting to budge more, though I have other suggestions. Maybe I am the problem hahaha
