So I’ve always liked the name [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] but struggled to find a nickname that I like. I feel like the nickname should incorporate the strong z sound that, to me, makes [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] so beautiful. After watching Big [name_m]Little[/name_m] Lies, I started crushing on [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] and thought it could make a cute, offbeat nickname for [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]. Is it too far of a stretch?
Not expecting, just collecting! Thanks in advance:D
I love this idea! [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] is stunning, and [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] is super spunky. Wonderfully cute & offbeat, for sure! I definitely think it makes sense as a nickname. Creative, yes ~ but it works! You could add a G middle name to help out a little more, if you are still worried about the stretch.
I also really love [name_f]Zelie[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]. The Z sound really is fun, isn’t it?
I always think it funny that on sites like this that people are creative with first names, loving something ‘unique’, but on the other hand nicknames have to follow certain ‘rules’ like being very obvious and predictable and not ‘a stretch’ whatever that means! I love creative nicknames myself!
I love [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] as it is so pretty and feminine but to me, [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] is the opposite and quite masculine. I do like some of the other suggestions for a nickname.
I always liked [name_m]Zailey[/name_m] for [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] but [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] is cute too! I would love to name a baby [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] nn [name_m]Zailey[/name_m], but [name_m]Iggy[/name_m] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] ruined it for me
I think it sounds cute, however when I first read it, I thought you must have been a huge [name_m]Iggy[/name_m] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] fan. If you don’t mind people making that association, then I think it is fine.
I finally got the chance to get back on here and check the feedback. Thank you so much for everyone that responded!!! I hear where everyone is coming from with the whole [name_m]Iggy[/name_m] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] thing, its the only thing that gave me pause. I feel that the connection is strong when you see it written out as [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] nn [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] because it is essentially only one letter difference. However, in real life you would only ever use them separately. For instance, you might call her [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] or you might call her [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] but you probably would never call her both at the same time, which is where the association with the rapper would come into play. Also, I personally haven’t heard anything new from [name_m]Iggy[/name_m] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] in the last 3-4 years. Does anyone know if she is still active as a musician?
I’d love to hear more feedback, particularly about the association with [name_m]Iggy[/name_m] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]. I don’t love or hate her as an artist, she isn’t really on my radar much, but I wouldn’t want the association to be so strong that everyone would assume I named my daughter after her…
No. It sounds like you’re naming her after [name_m]Iggy[/name_m] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] and [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] makes no sense as a nickname for [name_f]Azalea[/name_f].
@autumnreverie Oh, I don’t know… about as much sense as [name_m]Chuck[/name_m] for [name_m]Charles[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m] for [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]Bill[/name_m] for [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Bob[/name_m] for [name_m]Robert[/name_m], or [name_f]Flick[/name_f] for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
I like [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m], and so do many others, but more importantly, YOU like it—so I would ignore the comments saying it’s ugly or whatever.
[name_m]Iggy[/name_m] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] is still active but she’s not really on the scene anymore—she’s old news basically. I do think in writing I see the association between [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]/[name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] & [name_m]Iggy[/name_m] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] but I don’t think that will be that big of issue in person. You’re not naming her [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]! [name_m]Iggy[/name_m] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] is enough of a turn off for me to not use the name but if you can get over that association I would go for it. She’s irrelevant now (not to be rude)—and I think that association will continue to fade. [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] is beautiful and spunky, and [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] is great!
