I’m expecting b/g twins next week and we still don’t have names! I am feeling huge, hungry, and grumpy and would love some help. I’m just going to dump the names I like for each sex and would really love some thoughts on each or suggestions based on what we like! I want their names to not be matchy but be a fairly similar style.
B: [name_m]Otis[/name_m], [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], [name_u]Lionel[/name_u], [name_u]Dexter[/name_u], [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Knox[/name_m], [name_m]Odin[/name_m], [name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
MN ideas: [name_m]Duncan[/name_m], Kosek, [name_u]Hudson[/name_u], [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
Of the names you have listed for boys, my favorite is [name_m]Otis[/name_m] [name_m]Duncan[/name_m]. Second would be [name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m], though I have a feeling this is going to get very popular now that [name_m]Justin[/name_m] Timberlake and [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] [name_m]Biel[/name_m] have named their son this.
From the girls, I like both [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].
Out of your choices, I like [name_m]Knox[/name_m] and [name_m]Silas[/name_m] for the boy and [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] and [name_f]Tess[/name_f] for the girl. I’m not sure how I’d pair them with the middle names though.
So excited to see [name_m]Otis[/name_m] on your list; I’ve been crushing big time on it lately! I like [name_m]Otis[/name_m] [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] and [name_m]Otis[/name_m] Kosek, but also like [name_m]Knox[/name_m], [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_m]Calvin[/name_m].
Of your girls, I’m totally digging [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f] and [name_f]Tess[/name_f].
For a set I think [name_m]Otis[/name_m] and [name_f]Vera[/name_f] are SO sweet!!
[name_m]Otis[/name_m] [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] & [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] (the spunky with a shared O and traditional middles)
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] & [name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] (the classics with nature middles)
[name_m]Knox[/name_m] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] & [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] (the high-value letter theme X and Z with movie star middles)
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m] [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] & [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (the shared V and traditional middles)
Out of your girl choices I really like [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. I prefer the spelling [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] though, but [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is just as pretty.
Now I actually love all your first name choices for boys, though your middle name choice of [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] is my favorite by far. My choices would either be [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_m]Odin[/name_m], or [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] but out of the three here, I’d choose [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] to go with [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. The middle and first name starting with H would connect the names as a pair but not as obvious if both first names started with H.
Boy;[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] - unusual but strong history/roots
Girl;[name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] or [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - unusual but strong history/roots
You have some great choices to make combinations.
Personally I would suggest that [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] and [name_m]Knox[/name_m]/ [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] might be percieved as more trendy which would diminish their strength. Also I would be careful to not give one a ‘formal’ name and the other a nickname/dimutive name as this seems to make the nickname name ‘lesser’ ie. [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] and [name_f]Tess[/name_f] (this is why I chose [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] as a first name in my combos for you).
Other options you might not have considered;
Boy;[name_m]Samson[/name_m], Tiberious, [name_u]Seth[/name_u], [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Philip[/name_m]
Girl; [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f] as a first, [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
There are a lot of great combinations in that set, my favorites being:
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] & [name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] & [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] & [name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
If strength is what you are looking for I agree that the name [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] carries more strength than [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] because the -ee ending tends to make things sound more youthful. [name_f]Vera[/name_f] is also a nice strong name for a girl. [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] is the strongest name from your boys list. From your list I like the combo [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] the best, although I think a 2-3 or 2-1 first middle syllable pattern would have better flow. (this will be more noticeable when you say all three names together) Maybe something like [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] or [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] or [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_u]Reid[/name_u]. But it’s not a big deal, better to have a middle name you like than sacrifice for the best flow.
[name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] or [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
I love [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] & [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], their strong v sounds link them together. For middles from your list that flow well with those firsts:
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m] [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] & [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
The “el” sounds subtly unite [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] & [name_u]Lionel[/name_u]. These H middles works well with both names:
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] & [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u]
I prefer [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] & [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]/[name_f]Frances[/name_f].
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] has a nice, hard “C” sound, which sounds strong in my opinion and the “V” in [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] likewise sounds formidable. Also, the nickname [name_m]Colm[/name_m] for [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] is so handsome! [name_m]Colm[/name_m] & [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] are perfect in my opinion!
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] & [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (although I like the spelling [name_f]Silvie[/name_f]) would be my two picks if I was choosing just from the way you have your categories set up. If I could mix & match, then I’d go w/[name_u]Lionel[/name_u] [name_m]Knox[/name_m] & [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f].
I love [name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] and [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. Both classic and timeless. [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] sound sweet together.
