I am expecting boy girl twins, my husband and I are having trouble finding a name combo that we love. I have read through other forums and you all have such thoughtful advice, and I would love your help choosing our names.
-These will be our firsts, so no sibling names involved
-Ideally want them to start with different letters
-Do not want names to be too rhyme-y but want them to sound good together
We tend to favor older style names, below I included some names we have considered to help you get a better idea of our style
[name_m]Boy[/name_m] names we are considering (in no particular order):
-Henry
-Charles (Charlie)
-Finn
-Malcolm (Mack)
[name_f]Girl[/name_f] names we are considering (in no particular order):
-Colette
-Dorothy
-Cora
**we are definitely open to more name options, and would love some B/G combo ideas!
Congrats on your sweet twins! You have some great ideas so far! We also have similar styles so I hope this reply is helpful!
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f] make such a distinguished, special set. I like the idea of [name_u]Mack[/name_u] and [name_f]Collie[/name_f]!
I also like [name_u]Charles[/name_u] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] - the letters match but they don’t feel super matchy to me. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] are really sweet.
[name_u]Henry[/name_u] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] could be really cool with nicknames [name_m]Hank[/name_m] and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f]!
With [name_u]Finn[/name_u] (which I love), I’d suggest something equally short and cool. Maybe like [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] or [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_u]Blair[/name_u].
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite pairings would be:
[name_f]Colette[/name_f] & [name_u]Henry[/name_u]
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] & [name_u]Charles[/name_u] (nicknames [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and Charlie!)
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] & [name_f]Cora[/name_f]
Some other combinations, ranked on how much they fit your list:
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] & [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] (vintage but have a modern ring to them)
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] & [name_m]Otis[/name_m] (same as above, but leaning towards vintage)
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] & [name_m]Casper[/name_m] (definitely more vintage, but still cute!)
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] & [name_u]George[/name_u] (more contemporary)
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] & [name_u]Owen[/name_u] (more on the modern side, but fits with your list!)
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] & [name_u]Amos[/name_u] (underused vintage names, but could still work nowadays)
Some names in general:
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Chester[/name_m]
[name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Jonas[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Philip[/name_m]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]
I think [name_u]Henry[/name_u] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] sound really cute together.
Some suggestions
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_f]Annalise[/name_f]
[name_u]George[/name_u] and [name_u]Louise[/name_u]
[name_m]Norman[/name_m] and [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_u]Henry[/name_u] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_f]Colette[/name_f] and [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] (maybe too matchy?)
Some other ideas using one of your names in each set:
[name_u]Henry[/name_u] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_u]Charles[/name_u] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] (Charlie and Elsie)
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (Mack and Romy)
[name_f]Colette[/name_f] and [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] (Coco and Vinnie)
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] and [name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_u]Julian[/name_u]
Some combos inspired by your list:
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_u]Evan[/name_u] and [name_f]Mollie[/name_f]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] and [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
[name_u]Franklin[/name_u] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_u]Julian[/name_u] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] (Drew and Gigi)
[name_m]Ralph[/name_m] and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f] and [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_u]Monty[/name_u]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m]
From your list, I love [name_m]Malcom[/name_m] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f] together, mainly because of the strong “C” in both I don’t love same initial for twins either, but I do love when they have a shared sound somewhere between them. I also think [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] go well because they are short and sweet
I have a son named [name_u]Charles[/name_u] who goes by [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] so of course I’m most partial to that, [name_u]Henry[/name_u] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] has been on my list of potential future brother so that would be my second vote! [name_f]May[/name_f] I suggest [name_u]Timothy[/name_u] or [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] as well? For girls I like [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] & [name_f]Colette[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is more of a middle name to me, I’ve had [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Cora[/name_f] on my own list (we seem to have similar taste). [name_f]May[/name_f] I also suggest [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], and [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]?
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f] (Mack and Coco)
[name_u]Henry[/name_u] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] (Hank and Dottie)
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] and [name_f]Edith[/name_f]
[name_m]Hector[/name_m] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_u]Henry[/name_u] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_u]Edward[/name_u] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_u]Henry[/name_u] and [name_f]Collette[/name_f]
[name_m]Malcom[/name_m] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f]
From your boys I love [name_u]Henry[/name_u] & [name_u]Finn[/name_u] they are just so sweet. I have loved [name_u]Henry[/name_u] for so long he’s on my own personal list and I also have [name_u]Finley[/name_u] on my list so of course [name_u]Finn[/name_u] makes me smile.
You’ve had lots of lovely suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries
Looking at potential combinations from your favourites I really like the idea of
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] + [name_f]Cora[/name_f] = they are both so sweet, bright and outdoorsy. I like that sound wise they feel very different but they both share four letters it’s a sweet subtle theme. [name_u]Finn[/name_u] & [name_f]Cora[/name_f] are just so cute.
[name_u]Henry[/name_u] + [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] = such a lovely sibling set feels straight out of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] Poppins just so vintage, so classic and incredibly nostalgic. [name_u]An[/name_u] adorable sibling set. [name_m]Hank[/name_m] & [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] is so fun.
