[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I recently discovered that if our next child has a B name we would be A B C D. Our issue is that we don’t agree on much. I have 2 honour names we could use … but I’m not 100% sold on them as I don’t actually like a lot of b names.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] - was my great grandma. She looked identical to my mom. She travelled to our country as a [name_m]Bernardo[/name_m] girl when she was 12 hoping to be adopted by a family in [name_f]Canada[/name_f].
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]- my husbands great grandma . She had 23 children - 17 survived infancy. All of the oldest girls in the families have carried this name. So my husbands aunt has this name , as well as at least one matriarch in each of his second cousins family. I would most likely call her [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] or [name_f]Etta[/name_f]
Other names I like and have considered
[name_f]Bayla[/name_f]
[name_u]Blake[/name_u]
[name_u]Blair[/name_u]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] - I love this name … always have but my husband thinks there’s a lot of teasing potential.
What are your opinions on [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] ? Is there anything you could suggest.
Our oldest is [name_m]Deacon[/name_m]
I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] but [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is super cute! I LOVE LOVE [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]! Especially with the nickname [name_f]Brie[/name_f], [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] or [name_u]Jet[/name_u]!
I also think [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] are nice enough.
[name_f]May[/name_f] I also suggest [name_f]Brielle[/name_f], [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], [name_f]Briony[/name_f] or [name_f]Brenna[/name_f]
Not a big fan of [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f], but looove name/nickname [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]! Of the two, I prefer [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], sound-wise, and I also like the Shakespearean tie.
I also second the suggestions of [name_f]Bryony[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] is another idea.
Not sure what the teasing potential would be for [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]—I’ve known a few and did not know them to be teased for it. [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] and [name_m]Deacon[/name_m] make a smart, tailored set.
The first thing my husband said when I suggest [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] was [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] the midget . And that just about crushed me ! It’s a name I’ve loved forever but he is a hard no on it
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]/[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] - Both great names. I don’t see how you could go wrong with either.
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] - I love the history associated with the name in your husband’s family. [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] or [name_f]Etta[/name_f] would make great nns.
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] - [name_f]My[/name_f] cousin has this name. I don’t remember her ever being teased for having this name. I also had a friend named [name_f]Brigid[/name_f] growing up… no teasing here either.
I love, love [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] as it has a lively, cool, and spunky vibe. [name_m]Deacon[/name_m] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] are great together. [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] would be a lovely choice as well. I really like [name_u]Blake[/name_u] and [name_u]Blair[/name_u] (slightly prefer the [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] spelling for a girl) too but alongside [name_m]Deacon[/name_m] it may be assumed she is a boy, not sure, and that may not bother you. You have lovely choices here.
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] so I second that suggestion!
I love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], and [name_u]Blair[/name_u]!
I like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f] or [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] but personally not a fan of [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f], I’d suggest [name_f]Bette[/name_f] or [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] as another option.
I thi k that’s so cute!! [name_u]Love[/name_u] beatrice or [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] but not keen on bernadette if I’m honest!
Also love [name_u]Blue[/name_u], [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], Broné (bro-nay), [name_u]Blair[/name_u], [name_u]Briar[/name_u] and [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]
I don’t think anyone would.ever say that. “Midget” is a very outdated and offensive word- its making its way out of people’s vocabulary for sure. [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] is a great name! Ask him to reconsider
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] are both lovely, and both work with [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] as a nickname… Why not go for [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] as the given to honor both at once? It also works for [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] (which is a gorgeous name!) I also love [name_u]Blair[/name_u] and [name_u]Blake[/name_u] from your list. Some other suggestions; [name_f]Beata[/name_f], [name_f]Brynn[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], [name_f]Berenice[/name_f] (…a twist on both honor names?)
Your great-grandmothers had awesome names! I guess that’s not surprising. Great grandma names are totally the best. Mine are [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] & [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] (I don’t know the fourth).
Anyway, I think that [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] or [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] are both totally doable. Very sweet, unique, smart & classic. I like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] a bit more, but [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] nn [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is really fun. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is good too. I also quite like the nns [name_f]Bette[/name_f] or [name_f]Nettie[/name_f]. You could do the nn [name_f]Bette[/name_f] for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] too. Or [name_f]Bess[/name_f] or [name_f]Bea[/name_f]. All good!
I don’t care much for [name_f]Bayla[/name_f] or [name_u]Blake[/name_u]. [name_u]Blake[/name_u] just seems like a brother to [name_m]Deacon[/name_m]. [name_f]Bayla[/name_f] would be better spelled Beyle, but would constantly be mispronounced.
[name_u]Blair[/name_u] is okay, but it doesn’t sparkle. I like [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] a lot. It’s perfect w/[name_m]Deacon[/name_m]. And I love the nn [name_f]Bridie[/name_f].
Sorry, I just don’t see any teasing possibility for [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]. So Beatuiful!!! It’s such a strong, beautiful name and I love St. [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] (look her up if u want).
I love [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] and had it in my signature (whoops user card now) at one point, with the nickname [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]. I know a little girl [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] who goes by [name_u]Bernie[/name_u] sometimes, and [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is beautiful, I do love nettie also.
[name_f]Bayla[/name_f] - I prefer [name_u]Bay[/name_u]. Sorry, it’s not bad at all, just nms. Which is fine, cause it’s your style, so use it if you want !!
[name_u]Blake[/name_u] - I know a boy named [name_u]Blake[/name_u] who is one of my best friend’s little brothers. I’ve known him for a long time and I just can’t dissasociate that name as a boys name. Sorry!!!
[name_u]Blair[/name_u] - sounds like flair and a trumpet blare. Sorry, no offense at all it’s a good name, but it just isn’t for me ( but again, if it’s for you, use it!!)
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is cool. I think it’s sweet and serious. Not bad but not super stunning, nice though!
[name_f]My[/name_f] question is are any of your other children’s middles or first names honor names?
I know I was devastated when he nixed [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] !
[name_f]My[/name_f] son’s middle names are both honour names. I am a big fan of honour names because we have some beautiful ones to choose from. [name_m]Allan[/name_m] is the male version of my name, my husbands middle name and his grandfathers first name . [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] is my grandfather
Middle names for girls will either be [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f] or [name_f]Pauleen[/name_f] (spelled this way to honour our mothers [name_f]Paula[/name_f] and [name_f]Colleen[/name_f]) . I typically hate creative spellings but I figured it wouldn’t matter because it honours our moms and it would be a middle name. [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f] is a nod to my great great grandmother , my mom , my niece and myself all have the middle name anne . [name_u]Marie[/name_u] is my husbands mother and all of his aunts middle name .
