[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all, this is quite late notice, I posted in my due group thread when he arrived but wasn’t sure whether to also post in here! But over the years I’ve asked for and received LOADS of advice on the forums, and so want to post here to thank you all.
[name_m]Casper[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u], little brother to [name_f]Robyn[/name_f] [name_f]Joanne[/name_f], arrived at the start of the month.
[name_m]Casper[/name_m] was not on our list at all until a recommendation from another [name_u]Berry[/name_u] (thank you @rosajune !). We were having trouble tying together my preference for well known but not “over-used” soft-ish sounding names, and my partner’s preference for pretty standard names that were common from when we went through school. We like that [name_m]Casper[/name_m] is a well-known name but not currently common where we live and not common when we were growing up either. While it seems a bit stylistically at odds with big sister [name_f]Robyn[/name_f], neither is currently common, both are pretty standard names that aren’t too ‘out there’, and while neither is truly unisex they also don’t feel overly feminine or masculine to us.
Both children have honour names for middles. [name_u]Owen[/name_u], while still feeling like a “softer” boys name to me (I’m not a big fan of names like [name_m]Gunner[/name_m], [name_m]Rider[/name_m], Jackson), also honours some Welsh family history.
Thank you to everyone who’s helped with both children, with my concerns about initials and wearability of names, and your many many wonderful suggestions even if many got quickly veto-ed by my partner, or in some cases I ended up sticking with one of our original thoughts anyway, but with the comfort of knowing I wasn’t somehow missing “the one”. You’ve all helped so much.
