@pacifica [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] is a great choice!!
This name is such a striking balance of uncommon yet fitting in so that he won’t feel like his name is “weird.” I really like it!
Right now we’re between 2 names and if they stick, it’ll probably be a few more months before we decided for sure.
I’m 18 weeks today
Yay, you’re almost halfway!!
That’s the sweet spot I was trying to reach with his name. Though I love some more uncommon names, his little personality pointed me in a down to earth direction. I think [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] is fun enough for me but simple enough for him.
I’m glad to hear you feel supported by your OB team. Too often you hear the opposite story. But regardless that’s scary what you’re experiencing and I’m crossing my fingers that little one and you will have smoother sailing in this last stretch.
Had a repeat cervical length check yesterday—we went from 25mm a week ago to 15 mm, which isn’t good news. [name_m]Doctor[/name_m] said it’s now about a 50/50 chance that I carry to term and put me on progesterone suppositories for the next 3ish weeks to help better those odds. So fingers crossed we can keep baby cooking as long as possible! [name_f]Every[/name_f] additional day is crucial.
I keep joking around that she wants to be a fall baby instead of a christmas baby
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] those work for you!
You all are getting so close! I’m so excited to hear all of these autumn/winter baby names!
[name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] had a fetal echocardiogram today and he gave the sonographer a really hard time because he was snoozing away in an inconvenient position. Eventually after me doing squats, jumping jacks, and chugging ice water, he decided to turn. And thankfully the doctor came in and told me his heart looks perfectly healthy. So that’s his anatomy scan complete finally! Now our next big thing will be the second glucose test in two weeks. The main thing I’m a little worried about is he’s still measuring big for his age and the doctor I saw today mentioned if he weighs too much when it’s time to deliver they might opt for a c-section automatically… hoping that doesn’t happen.
On the good side I did get approved by an OBGYN closer to home. First appt with her is on the 17th.
@hvnewton I will keep you and baby in my thoughts. Hopefully she hangs in there for a long time and beats the odds!
@hvnewton I hope it works and she stays in the there as long as possible.
@pacifica yay on finishing the anatomy scan and getting booked at a closer OB/GYN! Did they tell you how much weight would be too much that they’ll opt for c-section?
I had my 24 week appt earlier this week, all good so far, except that I never really had my energy level back and feel really fit even during this 2nd trimester. I sort of accept it’ll probably be like that until I deliver, which isn’t fun, but if that’s my biggest problem throughout this pregnancy I guess I’ll take it. [name_f]My[/name_f] glucose test isn’t until the end of the month (28 week) and my 3rd MFM schedule is set for the next day. A little overwhelmed with how many hospital appointments are coming up, but baby boy is still doing good and that’s what matters.
@hvnewton I hope the progesterone helps and baby keeps cooking as long as possible! I’m sorry your pregnancy hasn’t been smooth. I hope baby is happy and heathy even if they arrive early.
@hvnewton Just popping in to say i am praying for you and baby to have a safe delivery! That sounds stressful but I love how you’re able to make light of the situation! Maybe baby does prefer autumn!
@hvnewton keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you and baby. [name_f]Every[/name_f] extra day is a win.
I’m 28 weeks tomorrow and definitely becoming more and more round. Starting to think about hospital bags and counting down the days until I’m off work!
Ended up spending the morning in the maternity assessment unit earlier this week due to reduced movement. It turns out there is a place the baby can tuck themselves which makes their movements so muffled by the placenta that I can’t feel them. There were quite a few kicks which we heard on the monitor but I couldn’t feel, and that’s because the placenta cushioned it. Everything is ok, but would rather not repeat that emotional rollercoaster.
Also turns out I’m essentially having constant low level Braxton-Hicks. Which can also make the kicks harder to notice/feel. Again, it’s not an issue, it just means my bump feels tight which isn’t super comfy for me! [name_f]Baby[/name_f] is not bothered.
What she told me was either if he weighs 4500 grams and I have gestational diabetes, or 5000 grams and I don’t have gestational diabetes. Not sure if that guideline is different in other areas.
So far I haven’t been diagnosed with GD and hopefully won’t be after this next glucose test, so hopefully he can stay under 5000 grams. Granted that equals 11lbs, so if he was over that I might be fine with a c-section
Babies can be sneaky sometimes! I end up doing a fair amount of ultrasounds for reduced fetal movement, and in most cases the baby is totally fine, and was either in a weird spot or sleeping when kicks were being monitored.
Well, the past couple of weeks have been a roller coaster. Last week I was in a car accident - everyone was okay, I spent the day being monitored and [name_m]Sam[/name_m] was doing just fine. But there’s a lot of stuff to sort out.
Then yesterday I had my three-hour glucose test, and got the news today it came back indicating gestational diabetes. I’m taking it day by day, but I’m feeling very tired and frustrated today.
