Baby #3...obsessed with sibset names and need input

We are expecting baby 3 in [name]June[/name]. We have a son [name]Noah[/name] and a daughter [name]Sophie[/name]. We are pretty sure we are having a girl next…I need some help with names. Right after we had [name]Sophie[/name] I had an urge for another daughter so we’d have [name]Noah[/name], [name]Sophie[/name], and [name]Stella[/name]. I love the name [name]Stella[/name] and for some reason (nothing logical) I love the idea of the girls sharing the same first initial.
Four years later, I still like the name, but I don’t love it. I am a fan of other names like [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Violet[/name], etc…but my very favorite name is [name]Sylvie[/name]. It meets all of my criteria-no nickname, not super popular like some of my other favorites, and vintage. My husband thinks it is way too close to [name]Sophie[/name]. I personally think it is cute and it isn’t like the girls would be mentioned together their entire lives. I would like to use the middle name [name]Jane[/name] with her name. So what do you think? I know some hate the idea of [name]Sophie[/name] and [name]Sylvie[/name] as full names, but I love it-but is [name]Noah[/name], [name]Sophie[/name], and [name]Sylvie[/name] too cutesy? For what it’s worth, the girls will be about 4.5 years apart and my son 6 years older.

although they are similar…they are not exact…

I love [name]Sylvie[/name]…gorgeous! [name]Noah[/name], [name]Sophie[/name], & [name]Sylvie[/name] would make a great sibset…
if you wanted …you could name her [name]Sylvia[/name] to be more distinct. But overall, I prefer [name]Sylvie[/name]…also prefer it to [name]Stella[/name].
congrats and good luck… love your taste (:

I think [name]Sylvie[/name] works but I love that name. I love [name]Sylvia[/name] even more. It’s so classic.

[name]Hi[/name]! I think you chose great names for your children (I love [name]Sophie[/name], and don’t think of it at all as a nickname…), but I have to admit that for me, [name]Sophie[/name] and [name]Sylvie[/name] would be too close. That’s just me, though, because I can see myself getting tongue tied when saying their names together. If it’s not an issue for you though, that’s what matters. I think [name]Sylvie[/name] is a great name!

I just realized that with [name]Sophie[/name] and [name]Sylvie[/name], there’s a French theme, which leaves out [name]Noah[/name]. So, while [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Sophie[/name] feel vintage to me when they’re paired together, the set of [name]Noah[/name], [name]Sophie[/name], and [name]Sylvie[/name] feels like the Biblical name versus the French names. (This may not be an issue for you, but I thought I’d mention it just in case.)

Because of this, I really love the other ideas you mentioned ([name]Annabel[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], etc.), not only because they’re not French, but because they’re less similar to [name]Sophie[/name]. (I can also see [name]Stella[/name] working, too, because they have different ending sounds…)

If you’re still looking because your husband isn’t set on [name]Sylvie[/name], you may also like these vintage names:

[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Adeline[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Cora[/name] (oops…close to [name]Noah[/name]…)
[name]Evelyn[/name] (nn [name]Evie[/name], which reminds me of [name]Sylvie[/name])
[name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] (nn [name]Evie[/name]) (Definitely and obviously French, but it’s not as close to [name]Sophie[/name] as [name]Sylvie[/name] is…)
[name]Tess[/name]
[name]Vivian[/name] (has [name]Sylvie[/name]'s V sound)

From your list, I think I love [name]Annabel[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] most with [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Sophie[/name], but all of your names are great!

Good luck!

Why not go for [name]Violet[/name] and give her the nn of Violie? This way you avoid the ‘S’ trap.

You have no idea how tongue tied you will get if your children share the same initial.

We had a [name]Jeff[/name], [name]Jillian[/name], [name]Jacquelyn[/name] and [name]Jennifer[/name] in the family and we ended up stuttering on the J and then going blank about what name we wanted to say. I say avoid the same letter.

[name]Sophie[/name], Violie (pronounced as [name]Vi[/name] lee) and [name]Noah[/name] sound like a good sibset to me.

or

[name]Sophie[/name], [name]Phoebe[/name] and [name]Noah[/name] the last two are Biblical names maybe they are too matchy though??

[name]Sophie[/name], [name]Alexandra[/name] and [name]Noah[/name], that works

[name]Sophie[/name], [name]Deborah[/name] and [name]Noah[/name], that works too

[name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Sylvie[/name]
[name]Deborah[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Susannah[/name]

While I love [name]Sylvie[/name], I do think it’s too similar to [name]Sophie[/name].

Based on your criteria (no nickname, not uber popular, and vintage), you may like…
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Lila[/name]
[name]Isobel[/name]
[name]Esme[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name]
[name]Nora[/name]
[name]Isla[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name]

I think [name]Noah[/name], [name]Sophie[/name], and [name]Audrey[/name] is perfection.

Thanks everyone!
I know that [name]Sophie[/name] and [name]Sylvie[/name] would get confusing from time to time, but I feel like I could manage. I didn’t even consider the two French names versus the Biblical name-good point!
My husband doesn’t like [name]Violet[/name] or else it would be my first choice-in fact, I love most of the suggestions but he’s much more picky. [name]Stella[/name] is his first choice-though I think he could easily be persuaded to [name]Annabel[/name].
We’re Americans living in [name]Brazil[/name] so I’m also taking how names would be pronounced in Portuguese into consideration. And we’re teachers so we have a lot of “no way, never” names because of associations with former students and families. It is a lot of criteria to consider!
If anyone else has suggestions I’m open to them-
right now [name]Stella[/name] is a front runner (prounounced the same in Portuguese), [name]Annabel[/name] is in second ([name]Anna[/name]-belly in Portuguese), but I can’t quite let go of [name]Sylvie[/name] yet.
Thanks for suggestions-keep them coming!

What about [name]Sylva[/name] ? You coudl still call her [name]Sylvie[/name] but then she sounds different than [name]Sophie[/name], more her own name. [name]Sylva[/name] is uncommon, vintage, and beautiful. [name]Hope[/name] this helps.

[name]Sara[/name] would be fine in [name]Brazil[/name]. A close friend who lived in [name]Brazil[/name] named her daughter [name]Sara[/name] long ‘are’ sound versus [name]Sarah[/name] with the ‘air’ sound. I thought it was very unusual at the time and presumed that it was the common pronunciation in [name]Brazil[/name].

I love [name]Sylvie[/name] and [name]Stella[/name]…[name]Sophie[/name] is way popular due to [name]Sophia[/name]. All are pretty though!

I personally think [name]Sylvie[/name] is too similar to [name]Sophie[/name] in sound, and it seems very off in style in comparison to the relatively popular [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Sophie[/name], not that that matters too much.

Since you like [name]Stella[/name], might you consider [name]Estella[/name] [name]Jane[/name]? I think [name]Estella[/name] is gorgeous! [name]Estelle[/name] is pretty, too, should you choose another two-syllable name.

With [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Sophie[/name], you may also like:

[name]Ava[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Ella[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Laura[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Lily[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Jane[/name] - I know [name]Lucy[/name] was on your list…
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Jane[/name] - This was my great grandmother’s name…
[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Jane[/name] - Or, use [name]Sarah[/name], which is what [name]Sadie[/name] is a nickname for!

Or, what about these?

[name]Cora[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Flora[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Iris[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Leah[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Lola[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Mercy[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Poppy[/name] [name]Jane[/name] - I adore this!

You do still want [name]Jane[/name] to be the middle name, right? Any appeal to you?
