Our healthy baby boy arrived but now we can’t decide. We are down to three names.
[name]Gregory[/name]- my mother’s maiden name
[name]Davis[/name]- [name]MIL[/name] maiden name
[name]Porter[/name]- a favorite of DH
Siblings are [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Lucas[/name] and [name]Clara[/name].
My post pregnancy brain needs some clarity! Give me your thoughts.
[name]Do[/name] you have a middle in mind, or can it be one of these three, too? Also, do the other kids’ names honor anyone and are you concerned about balancing which sides of the family have been honored more often?
While [name]Lucas[/name] has a mildly surnamey sound, its closeness to [name]Luke[/name] (do you call him that much?) plus the more traditional/vintage style of [name]Ellie[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] jar with the more modern surname choices, [name]Porter[/name] and [name]Davis[/name]. I would also hesitate to use [name]Davis[/name] since it has the same unusual “s” ending as [name]Lucas[/name]. [name]Gregory[/name] is underused, a classic without being heavily traditional, with family meaning. It fits best [name]IMO[/name].
My first pick would be [name]Gregory[/name] [name]Porter[/name]. The “or” sounds the names share help it flow beautifully, and you get a name that honors your family while he gets one of his faves. [name]Gregory[/name] [name]Davis[/name] would be my second pick; fairness in all things. In either case, if you don’t care for the nickname [name]Greg[/name], I think that you could totally get away with [name]Grey[/name]. [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Lucas[/name], [name]Clara[/name], and [name]Grey[/name] is a cool set! (And [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Lucas[/name], [name]Clara[/name], and [name]Greg[/name] is nice, too). My third pick would be [name]Porter[/name] [name]Gregory[/name]. [name]Porter[/name] is just a cool name, haha.
[name]Davis[/name] is too similar to [name]Lucas[/name] to work as a first. Choose both maiden names to avoid hurt feelings. I really like [name]Gregory[/name] [name]Davis[/name]-- very dashing. Fits well with the classic style of your other children’s names, much more so than [name]Porter[/name] (which is a guy who carries things for other people, not the best name imagery).

i like [name]Gregory[/name] [name]Porter[/name]. I’d call him just G as a nickname 
I feel that [name]Davis[/name] is too close to [name]Lucas[/name] and [name]Porter[/name] doesn’t have the same style as [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Lucas[/name] and [name]Clara[/name]. So I think [name]Gregory[/name] would be the nicest.

I agree… [name]Gregory[/name] [name]Davis[/name] is the best combo. I don’t feel that [name]Porter[/name] fits with the other siblings’ names either.
I really want to be another vote for [name]Gregory[/name] [name]Davis[/name] it fits well, honors and is very handsome. However, [name]Gregory[/name] [name]Davis[/name] was an English killer who actually planned on becoming a serial killer before he was caught. (Gregory Davis - Wikipedia)
I’d go with [name]Gregory[/name] [name]Porter[/name].
I vote [name]Gregory[/name] [name]Davis[/name] too, but I like [name]Davis[/name] alone aswell!
I also like [name]Gregory[/name] [name]Davis[/name]. However, don’t chose to use both names just to avoid hurt feelings. There are ways around that.
