Baby #6 -help me narrow down my list

[name_u]Shalom[/name_u]! I would love your feedback and ideas! [name_f]Girl[/name_f] names are much harder for me than boy names, I suspect because there are far more male Hebrew names than female and, therefore so many of the female names feel tired and overused.

Our children so far are [name_m]Evander[/name_m] :blue_heart:, Gabrielā€‹:blue_heart:, Elizaā€‹:sparkling_heart:, Aviyaā€‹:sparkling_heart:, and Maccabeeā€‹:blue_heart:.

[name_u]Van[/name_u], [name_m]Gabe[/name_m], [name_f]Liza[/name_f], [name_u]Avi[/name_u], and [name_m]Mac[/name_m]

If baby #6 turns out to be a boy, he will be [name_m]Zebulun[/name_m] [name_u]Reed[/name_u], [name_m]Zeb[/name_m].

I need a name that I love as much as I love [name_m]Zeb[/name_m], underused, or at least classic and timeless if it is ranking higher on popularity charts. For example, [name_m]Evander[/name_m] was a deliberate choice to use a name outside of the top 1000 SSA chart of 2011. But [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] is timeless, so its popularity didnā€™t bother me. Itā€™s not only a trend that will be dated when heā€™s older. (Although [name_m]Evander[/name_m] probably will feel very dated in a few decades, what can ya do?)

It needs to be Hebrew or directly adjacent to Hebrew (such as [name_f]Anna[/name_f] from Chana) and have a favorable meaning.

Now hereā€™s the rub, my husband will not consider any name unless it is three syllables long. He feels that weā€™ve kept the 3 syllable theme going this long, we canā€™t break it now.

Hereā€™s my list. Iā€™m a total name nerd so itā€™s a continuous work in progress ā€¦ sinceā€¦ over a decade ago. Lol. The red marker indicates names my DH at one point said were nice or at least not terrible, but, being married to a name nerd, he has become burned out in regards to baby name conversations so take it with a grain of salt. He no longer puts in much thought when I ask about these things.

[name_u]Baby[/name_u] #6
:cherry_blossom::womens::lady_beetle::waning_crescent_moon::rainbow::watermelon::carousel_horse::ballet_shoes::art::teddy_bear::sparkling_heart:

  • :round_pushpin:[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] ā€œDellaā€
    oh-Dell-yah
I would shorten it to [name_f]Della[/name_f] in casual environments, and isnā€™t [name_f]Della[/name_f] just so beautiful!?
    Means: I will Thank Yah/God

  • :round_pushpin:[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] ā€œAnnaā€
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] was my Great Grandmother and [name_f]Belle[/name_f] is my grandmotherā€™s middle name. [name_f]My[/name_f] daughter [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] was named after Annaā€™s mother. This could be a three generation honor name. Plus I just love the name [name_f]Anna[/name_f] ever since my oldest boys were learning to read with books from the 1800s. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] was always a leading lady in their stories. Iā€™ve always loved the name [name_f]Belle[/name_f] since the first time my grandmother told me it was her mn when I was a little girl.

  • :round_pushpin:Elyada: [name_m]God[/name_m] is knowing ā€œEdieā€ ā€œEllieā€ ā€œEllaā€ ā€œElyaā€
    EL-yah-dah
So many cute nn possibilities and such a nice soft sound and meaning. One of my favorite hobbies is going through each name in The books of Chronicles and other biblical genealogies and looking up the original Hebrew pronunciation and meaning. This gem came straight from there.

  • Elpalet: [name_m]God[/name_m] of Deliverance ā€œLettaā€ ā€œEllaā€ ā€œElpaā€
el-pah-LET - another beautiful name from Chronicles. I think meeting a stranger or seeing a character in a movie with this name would be very charming. Also great meaning.

  • :round_pushpin:[name_f]Salome[/name_f] (sa-LO-may) ā€œSloamā€
Oh I love this name. More than most. But my boys always pronounce it salami ā€¦ on purpose. So Iā€™m not sure itā€™s salvageable :unamused:

  • [name_f]Azura[/name_f]: [name_m]Adam[/name_m] and Eveā€™s daughter, Sethā€™s wife

  • Ivriya: Hebrew lady ā€œEveā€ Eivriya alt spelling?
    eev-REE-ah
I love this one because of its meaning also I have been looking for a name that I like that I can shorten to [name_f]Eve[/name_f], a long time favorite of mine but alas, not three syllables . Iā€™m not sure if nn [name_f]Eve[/name_f] would work with a name that starts with I instead of E, and I canā€™t quite figure out a way to spell it phonetically correct with an E initial. Any ideas?

  • Ellie-Ava [name_u]Psalm[/name_u] (Eliava alt spelling) my [name_f]El[/name_f] (God) is life
Ok, so when DH and I were expecting our first baby, this was our top name. Ellie-Ava. Iā€™m pretty sure it was his suggestion too, which is a big deal, he no longer suggests anything, just waves his veto scepter. So even though itā€™s 4 syllables, I think I might be able to convince him to use it. Weā€™ve had two girls since then that I totally named without compromise, so it would be sweet to go back to this original name by DH.

  • Evie-something. Canā€™t quite figure out a good double barrel, total of three syllable name with [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. But Iā€™d love your ideas!

:two_hearts:

Ivriya. What about Everiaā€¦ no, that makes it feel like youā€™d emphasize the ā€œev,ā€ rather than it sounding like ā€œeve.ā€ That one is tricky.

I like the meaning of Margaret and the nns! It means pearl, but I like to tell my daughter that she is a great treasure, and why thatā€™s true. We call her Aurie, but that wouldnā€™t work for you. Sometimes breaking away from normal nns helps you to see alternatives though!

I would struggle to use Anna with Grace because it is essentially the same meaning.

Elpalet is lovely! Iā€™ve never heard it before.

Have you considered Charis? I know itā€™s not 3 syllables, but could you adapt it and use Charissa? Karissa? It may not be something you immediately like! It also reminds me of the Greek word kairos, meaning time. Itā€™s greek adjacent to hebrew? I pair the two together.

Maybe this website will be a fun for you as it has been for me: The meaning of all names of FEMALE characters in the Bible: a list of all A-names

Sorry this is so scatterbrained!

I like the idea of [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] or Ivriya, since your girls both have vowel names! I think continuing that trend, but giving baby a name with a new initial, would be really nice! [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] matches better in your set imo!

Thoughts:

[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] - pretty, warm and elegant, a bit of sass, spark and sweetness too. And [name_f]Della[/name_f] is wonderful

[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] - pretty, simple and charming. I like how meaningful it is, but thereā€™s a tiny bit of me that is bothered by how [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] both mean grace (I know [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] can mean beautiful/loveable, but also grace and beauty?)

Elyada - lovely, intriguing and distinctive. I do think people might pronounce it Ell-ee-ay-duh, but I really like the correct pronunciation.

Elpalet - I like the soft but strong sound. I think it could grow on me.

Ivriya - I find it a bit tongue-twistery if Iā€™m honest

[name_f]Salome[/name_f] - a beautiful name with a lovely meaning - however, if your boys are calling her Salami already, she will, possibly, be forever Salami

[name_f]Azura[/name_f] - bright, elegant and pretty

Ellie-Ava [name_u]Psalm[/name_u] - not sure on this, a bit close to [name_m]Evander[/name_m] for me

[name_f]Evie[/name_f]- something is cute. Could be unique, depending on the name.
Maybeā€¦ Evie-Dor, Evie-Belle, Evie-Li, Evie-Ruth, Evie-Rae, Evie-Shay, Evie-Jane, Evie-Prue, Evie-Pearl, Evie-Dove, Evie-Anne, Evie-Sol

[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Azura[/name_f], and Elyada are my faves

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] by a long shot! What a gorgeous name! And fits so well with the siblings.

Youā€™ve got a few El-names which personally I wouldnā€™t put with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. I also feel like [name_f]Aviya[/name_f] and Ivriya are confusingly similar for siblings, and so are Ellie-Ava and [name_m]Evander[/name_m]. Itā€™s such a shame about Salome/Salami but I donā€™t think sheā€™d ever get away from it!

You might like [name_f]Adira[/name_f], [name_f]Leora[/name_f], [name_f]Raphia[/name_f], [name_f]Zahava[/name_f]? Iā€™m not too sure how popular they are though.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_f]Salome[/name_f]

[name_f]Salome[/name_f] is WONDERFUL. One of my favourite names

International (also [name_u]French[/name_u] and popular in [name_u]French[/name_u] speaking countries, Italian, Arabic, etc)

I prefer it with an accent, [name_f]SalomƩ[/name_f]. [name_f]SalomƩ[/name_f] written like this is like my second favourite name. It would be wonderful!!

[name_f]Sally[/name_f] is such a sweet nickname. [name_f]Sally[/name_f] is my favourite nickname along with [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. To get [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] try [name_f]Elisheva[/name_f] maybe?

Please please try [name_f]Salome[/name_f].

Elpalet and Elyada are cool too but too similar to [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] in my opinion.

[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] would be nice. [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f], one of my favourite names, is cool too but not on your list.

I never thought about the girls names beginning with a vowel. Iā€™m not going to tell DH incase he finds another theme to stifle me with! Haha [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] is looking like the best option regardless. [name_f]My[/name_f] brother has two daughters, [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Natasha[/name_f], and I always thought it was neat that all the granddaughtersā€™ names ended with a

Thank you so much! Really good input I need to think realistically about the sibset as a whole. I didnā€™t really consider how Ivriya and [name_f]Aviya[/name_f] are very similar. Too similar. I also never thought about [name_m]Evander[/name_m] and Ellie-Ava being similar but I find it interesting that they were our top choices for our first child. They are also very different. Very different meanings, different origins, different syllable emphasized, different amt of syllables, the whole sound is different. I think they are only similar on paper. [name_f]My[/name_f] son goes by [name_u]Van[/name_u] 99% of the time, too. I doubt most people in his life even know his name is [name_m]Evander[/name_m].
But regardless itā€™s not perfect. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is Latin, itā€™s four syllables, it has a hyphen (which my husband randomly formed an opinion against in recent years), etc.

I love your [name_f]Evie[/name_f]- suggestions!! Evie-Jane is a stand out choice! I LOVE the name [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I guess I was wrong when I said I didnt compromise with my girl names because I wanted an [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] so badly but my DH would not go for it. So we compromised with [name_f]Mae[/name_f], and I still donā€™t have a little [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. Evie-Jane is darling. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I just have to present it in a way that DH forgets he said he doesnā€™t like hyphens lol

[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] was my top choice for a little while until I kept searching and searching And I think Iā€™m over-thinking it!

Thanks for all your insights!!! I really appreciate it

Thatā€™s a fair point - if heā€™s Van mostly, I can see it working maybe

Fingers crossed DH likes Evie-Jane :crossed_fingers:

This is precisely the feedback I need! I didnā€™t think of any of that! I am pretty much blinded by my love for each individual name that I didnā€™t see the whole picture:)

[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is pretty special :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Wow! So many interesting sounds and love these nn choices! Im going to look into these! [name_f]Davina[/name_f] really is pretty but I never met one IRL, but know probably a hundred Davidā€™s. [name_f]Davina[/name_f] would be very unexpected. I love unexpected :joy:

While I like some of the names on your list, I think there are several different styles the different ones would fit into. [name_f]My[/name_f] opinions of the names:

[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]: 7.5/10-- I think this is a very striking, dramatic name, and reminds of [name_u]Swan[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] pronounced ā€œOh-dee-liaā€ is prettier though.

[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]: 7/10-- I really like this name, and it is very pretty and flowing. The only negative thing about it is it sounds very common somehow, maybe because [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is already a very common middle name and somehow soundsā€¦ expected? with [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] would be a beautiful combination.

Elyada: 4/10-- I donā€™t really like the sound of it, it looks like it would be ā€œEli-ah-daā€, which I think is prettier, but El-yada reminds of Yoda.

Elphalet: 4/10-- I think the sound is actually quite pretty (it should be a kind of flower), but just glancing at it, it looks so much like elephant.

[name_f]Salome[/name_f]: 5/10-- I think it is kind of pretty sounding, but I donā€™t care for the way it looks written down; it might get mispronounced ā€œsal-oh-mā€

[name_f]Azura[/name_f]: 4/10-- I personally donā€™t like the sound of it.

Ivriya: 3/10-- I think it looks very awkward and hard to pronounce, just using [name_f]Eve[/name_f] as its own name would be a better option I think, or if you wanted a name that could have the nickname [name_f]Eve[/name_f], what about [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Evelina[/name_f], or Evangeline/a?

Ellie-Ava [name_u]Psalm[/name_u]: 3/10-- I donā€™t like ā€œPsalmā€ as a name, I think itā€™s extremely trendy and celebrity looking, not really a match to your other kidsā€™ names, and although I think Ellie-Ava is pretty, I think it looks a bit odd being hyphenated together. What about Elliava?

Evie-?: 4/10: I think [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is a cute nickname, but not amazing as a hyphenated name. I think [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or another [name_f]Eve[/name_f] name nicknamed [name_f]Evie[/name_f] would be better.

[name_f]My[/name_f] reply as well!:

[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]: I feel like The nickname ā€˜Dellaā€™ fits quite well! But branching off of [name_f]Della[/name_f] I thought of [name_f]Adella[/name_f] (Or Adelia) As a posher version I could think of.

[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]: [name_u]Love[/name_u] the first name! Hate the second one for C o U g H S persoNaL- ReaAsons-

Elyada: It could be changed up to Ellunia, Meaning; ā€œmy [name_m]God[/name_m] is an oath, my [name_m]God[/name_m] is abundanceā€

[name_f]Salome[/name_f]: It may mean peace in Hebrew, But I personally think that Sellina, (Meaning [name_f]Moon[/name_f] In Latin)
[name_u]Or[/name_u] if you like the name, [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] has the meaning of patience in Arabic!

[name_f]Azura[/name_f]: I would much prefer Azline or Azinna (Azline is a Muslum name too! Quite a pretty one in my opinion~!)
Ivriya: I love the way the name looks! But a nice [name_u]Arya[/name_u] or [name_f]Ivara[/name_f]
(Ivara means yew tree, archer, And [name_u]Arya[/name_u] means noble in sanskirt!)

Ellie-Ava: Both good names! But not a super good hyphonated combo in my opinon! If you Like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], Try Ellie-Mae/May [name_u]Or[/name_u] Ava-Ann/Anne!

[name_f]Evie[/name_f]: I love the name! But One of my friends said she hates being named [name_f]Evia[/name_f] and getting called [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_f]Eve[/name_f]! So Try [name_m]Averey[/name_m], [name_f]Evia[/name_f], [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Ivanna[/name_f]!
(Ivanna: [name_m]God[/name_m] Is Gracious)
(Averey: elf or magical being)
(Evia: Living one)

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!!

Yes that is super helpful! You suggested some names Iā€™ve never heard of til now! thank you so much!!

Everyone seems to be over [name_f]Grace[/name_f] as a mn. Youā€™re reaction made me LOL. when my friends and I started having children a decade ago or more, [name_f]Grace[/name_f] was exploding as a mn. It was really pretty but totally overused so I never used it, but always liked it. I was thinking maybe it was safe to use it again since the craze has settled. But seeing all the reactions to [name_f]Grace[/name_f], it seems people are not ready to embrace it yet lol :joy:

[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is just so freaking beautiful, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!
