We’ve been considering names for our baby #7 and we really appreciated everyone’s input on my previous post! https://forum.nameberry.com/t/names-for-baby-7/386255
We found out that our baby is a girl! After 5 boys in a row it’s almost hard to believe!
Right now we are thinking of a double name:
Rose Marie with Cecilia as the middle name (my grandmother’s middle name).
How would you write this:
Rose Marie Cecilia
Rosemarie Cecilia
Rose-Marie Cecilia
Something else?
For reference:
Our oldest is a girl:
Emma Grace (she goes by Emma, Grace is middle name)
Then we have five boys:
Clayton
William
Andrew
Matthew and
Caleb
We always planned to use Rose as a middle name, due to it being a generational family name. Since my last post, my dad passed away suddenly two weeks ago. Rose is my middle name and he always called me “Rosie” as a name of endearment. I decided that it would be special to call this baby Rosie as a nickname too, thus the decision to use Rose as the first name instead of middle.
[name_f]My[/name_f] condolences on the loss of your dad.
I think I like it written [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] best. [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is a beautiful name!
I think [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] sounds great. It’s lovely that you want to use [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], I wish you the best!!
I love seeing this because [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] are two of my favorites! I think [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] or Rose-Marie would best ensure that both names are used consistently, but I would go with [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f]. It’s an established name spelled this way, so hyphenating seems unnecessary. It would be kind of like Anne-Elise. That’s just me, though! Whatever spelling, it’s a gorgeous name!
I like Rose-Marie, but i think i have an affinity for hyphens. If you want her to be known consistently as [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] on forms and stuff probably go with [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f], very cute. I think it would be cute to do a double barrel nickname, Rosie-May, that way you could honor your dads nickname for you but also make it her own
[name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is my favourite out of them all and it matches the rest of your children with “1” first name and “1” middle name
I’m sorry to hear of the loss of your father. [name_f]My[/name_f] best wishes go towards you and your family
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is awesome, and matches the best IMO. I am really sorry to hear about your dad’s passing. I just lost my dog a few days ago, so I know what you are going through (sort of).
I think [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a lovely name, and calling her [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is a beautiful way to honor your dad.
I remembered from your last post that you’re Catholic, so maybe you’ve noticed this already, but [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] sounds very similar to the word rosary. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing - I’m Lutheran and we don’t use the rosary. But I think you should ask some Catholic friends & family what they think about [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f]. It may be annoying for her if it’s often misheard as rosary, or if people are constantly pointing out to her how similar it is.
I do think that using [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] or Rose-Marie would probably lessen the similarity because of the added space & emphasis on [name_u]Marie[/name_u].
To be clear - I think [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] is a gorgeous name!! [name_m]Just[/name_m] wanting to make sure that you’re hearing the similarity to rosary.
