What are your thoughts on the nn [name_m]Bear[/name_m] for honour name [name_m]Robert[/name_m]?
We were planning to use it for a middle as a very important honour name to us, but I quite like the idea of using it for the first with a nn he would mostly go by. Similarly, I had considered [name_u]Bo[/name_u] but DH is not a fan at all. We have liked [name_m]Fox[/name_m] as a first or middle for years but [name_m]Bear[/name_m] seems a bit more wearable for some reason and also has the B initial ([name_m]Robert[/name_m] went by [name_m]Bob[/name_m]). The middle honour spot just doesn’t seem like enough, if you know what I mean.
I think [name_m]Robert[/name_m] nn “[name_m]Bear[/name_m]” works.
Looking at your signature I like [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] as a middle.
Other ideas:
[name_m]Wolfe[/name_m]
[name_u]Dakota[/name_u]
[name_u]Ash[/name_u]
[name_m]Flint[/name_m]
Thank you! My issue with the middle is not sounding too word-namey with the nn ie. [name_m]Bear[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m], [name_m]Bear[/name_m] [name_u]Winter[/name_u], etc.
I really like [name_m]Bear[/name_m] for a nn for [name_m]Robert[/name_m]. And as a middle the first thing that came to mind was [name_m]Robert[/name_m] Malacai
I would be strongly tempted to go with [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m].
Then as an infant, I’d call him [name_u]Bobby[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], dropping the [name_u]Bobby[/name_u] around age 2, and just calling him [name_m]Bear[/name_m] after that.
I agree [name_m]Bear[/name_m] makes a GREAT nn for [name_m]Robert[/name_m], but it also makes a cool mn.
I really have never heard anyone named [name_m]Robert[/name_m] called [name_m]Bear[/name_m] before. I feel like it is something you as parents will have to insist on while he is a child. If he still wants to go by [name_m]Bear[/name_m] as an adult, he will have to insist as well. When he establishes a career, going by [name_m]Bear[/name_m] might not be an option.
Would you be opposed to naming him [name_m]Bear[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]? I think [name_m]Bear[/name_m] is a strong and socially acceptable first name choice. This way you are still honoring your friend/family member and you get to call your child what you want.
