Baby boy name advice!

My partner and I can’t decide on a boy name… the baby’s last name is not common and is from Irish decent, sounds kind of like Maureen.

Top picks right now are Charles (Charlie) and Eamon, but wondering if Eamon is leaning too heavily on the Irish side. Thoughts? Other suggestions?

We also considered Oxford, which is my moms maiden name, but I don’t know if it’s too strange as a first name? We loved Ledger but we’re both accountants and decided it’s too on the nose!

Other suggestions welcome! Middle name Christopher or Garnet

I don’t think [name_m]Oxford[/name_m] is too out there, but would probably choose it as a middle — [name_u]Charles[/name_u] [name_m]Oxford[/name_m] is so precious! I have to say, I adore that combo.

I don’t think a name can ever be too Irish, but [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] isn’t my favorite Irish choice. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a matter of personal style, it’s certainly a favorite of many. The similarly Irish [name_u]Ennis[/name_u] has always seemed very regal me sweet to me, though!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I love both [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] & [name_m]Eamon[/name_m]. Both are sweet & lovable with boyish charm. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is pretty popular though. I’d lean towards [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] just for that reason. I don’t think it’s too Irish! I actually have a little nephew named [name_m]Eamon[/name_m]. People mispronounce/spell it sometimes, but it’s worth it to have such a handsome unique name.

[name_m]Oxford[/name_m] is a bit strange as a first name…but it’s also kind of neat. Especially with maybe the nn [name_u]Ozzie[/name_u]? I still like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] & [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] personally more, but [name_m]Oxford[/name_m] is a neat option. If you guys like it, don’t worry about it being too strange.

[name_m]Ledger[/name_m] is not my cup of tea, & maybe a bit too funny with your careers!

I love [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] but wondering how it flows with your last name or if [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] may run into “Maureen” (although I’m not entirely sure what it is) but if they sound nice together it would be my first choice. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is nice too and I think [name_m]Oxford[/name_m] would work as a first although it would make a very handsome middle. In the first name spot you have the nickname options of [name_m]Ford[/name_m] or Ossie/Ozzie if you are nickname people. Being that [name_m]Oxford[/name_m] is such a meaningful name it would be nice to be able to use it.

[name_m]Eamon[/name_m] is great!! Such a cool sounding name!!

[name_m]Oxford[/name_m] would be a nice middle - although I think [name_m]Ford[/name_m] would be a great first name!!

Some other ideas:

[name_u]Aidan[/name_u]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m]
[name_u]Levi[/name_u]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]

I think since the last name is Irish [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] isn’t too out there. It’s definitely on the more anglicized side of Irish names and shouldn’t be too hard for the layman to figure out intuitively. [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_m]Oxford[/name_m] Last name sound kinda fun.

[name_u]Charles[/name_u] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] is always a strong sensible name choice that sounds good together. I think in this case [name_m]Oxford[/name_m] and [name_m]Ledger[/name_m] are best as middle name options.
