I think [name]Camden[/name] and [name]Connor[/name] rock with [name]Lily[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are accessible, rough-and-tumble, handsome names. Of the two, I prefer [name]Camden[/name]: it’s less popular and [name]IMO[/name] sounds great with [name]Richard[/name]. [name]Cam[/name] is such a fun nickname. [name]Connor[/name] is spunky and happy, too, but its “r” ending makes it slide a little into [name]Richard[/name] when the two names are said together (Connorichard). But middles are rarely used out loud, so I don’t think it’s a problem.
I would steer clear of [name]Cohen[/name]. Its importance as a title in the Jewish faith makes some people find it offensive as a given name. For one of many Nameberry discussion about [name]Cohen[/name], take a look at this thread: Nameberry - Welcome to the Nameberry Forums. I find the name [name]Cullen[/name] really linked to the Twilight series; I imagine that connection will dull over time, but since i disliked the books, I wouldn’t go for it personally. And as a word name, I think [name]Coy[/name] is a little odd: being coy or the real mccoy…I don’t know. It seems short or incomplete to me, like a nickname for something else.
[name]Camden[/name]! That’s my vote!
I agree with all of this, particularly the note on [name]Cohen[/name]. Please, please do not use this name. At least spell it [name]Coen[/name] or Cowen or something.
I voted for [name]Cullen[/name]. Classy, handsome, not often heard but not obscure. Nice rounded name and goes nicely with [name]Lily[/name] without being too Nameberry-matchy, you know?
And I think the link of [name]Cullen[/name] to Twilight is a very tiny link. Twilight is not great literature and will not stand “the test of time”. Whether you love or hate Twilight, [name]Cullen[/name] very much stands on it’s own.
And congrats on the future little man!
[name]Camden[/name], [name]Connor[/name], [name]Cullen[/name] are my top three in that order. [name]Connor[/name] and [name]Camden[/name] are almost tied but with the middle name [name]Richard[/name], [name]Camden[/name] gives it a fresher sound.
My vote went to [name]Connor[/name]
I voted for [name]Cullen[/name], but I think [name]Callum[/name] [name]Richard[/name] is even more handsome, if you need more ideas.
I voted Connor. Cullen reminds me of Twilight and Culling things, which aren’t exactly positive connotations. Coy seems like it would be a good nn or middle, but is a bit incomplete for a first name. Camden is a London district, so basically it’s in the same league as Brooklyn, and I’m not really too big a fan of place names. People seem to have an issue with Cohen, so I’d steer clear of that. Connor is a great name and works well with Lily. But I agree that Callum would be another good suggestion as then the ending of the first name and the start of the middle wouldn’t blend together as with Connor.
I vote for [name]Camden[/name]. I like [name]Cullen[/name] too but if that is too Twilight-ish you could consider [name]Colin[/name] instead.
I’ve got to say that I do hold somewhat of a torch for [name]Camden[/name]. No idea why but I do like the sound of it, and I think the nickname [name]Cam[/name] is cute and I prefer the route of [name]Camden[/name] than [name]Cameron[/name].
[name]Cullen[/name] is my pick; I am not a “Twilight” devotee, so that doesn’t play into my thinking.
[name]Connor[/name] and [name]Camden[/name] are ok, but [name]Connor[/name] is a little overused (I prefer [name]Conor[/name]), and [name]Camden[/name] alternately makes me think of two separate syllables randomly joined, and the city of [name]Camden[/name], [name]New[/name] [name]Jersey[/name].
[name]Coy[/name] has a redneck/hillybilly tinge to me; “[name]Hettie[/name] [name]Mae[/name] go help Uncle [name]Coy[/name] at the still before the revenuers come.” Anyway, just my take.
I agree with all the comments regarding [name]Cohen[/name], though Cohan (like [name]George[/name] M. Cohan Irish-American Broadway impressario) is a viable name. It is pronounced Co-Han, equal stress on both syllables.
I second Kyemsma, [name]Callum[/name] is a wonderful name and would be my pick. [name]Calder[/name] is also great.
I like [name]Connor[/name] best but think [name]Camden[/name] would be better with [name]Richard[/name]. I like [name]Callum[/name], [name]Cormack[/name], [name]Cavan[/name], or [name]Cathan[/name] too.
I would avoid [name]Cohen[/name] and [name]Coy[/name]. When I hear the name [name]Coy[/name], I automatically think of the adjective which does not make a flattering name. I think it will get mistaken for Koi, as in the fish, as well. [name]Cullen[/name], strong Twilight association aside, isn’t my cup of tea. It is fine if it has a family association or personal meaning. [name]Camden[/name] is ok. I like [name]Connor[/name], it is popular but handsome.
[name]How[/name] about [name]Corbin[/name], [name]Clive[/name], [name]Cade[/name], [name]Carter[/name], [name]Carson[/name], [name]Calhoun[/name], [name]Colton[/name], [name]Ciar[/name] or [name]Ciaran[/name]?
Thanks for all of your help! I think we will choose between [name]Camden[/name] and [name]Connor[/name]. My husband really liked [name]Coy[/name] but it is just not for me.
[name]Hi[/name] there - my vote was for [name]Connor[/name], that’s our son’s name so I obviously love the name. But, I would like to point out that it sometimes drives me bonkers that people constantly spell his name wrong. Also, initially we liked the idea of a name that couldn’t be nicknamed but sometimes I wish I could shorten it somehow. Overall, I think it’s a beautiful, strong name. Also, not sure if you are a dog person, but we liked it too, bc it means ‘lover of hounds’.
Good luck!
I like [name]Cullen[/name] out of your choices. I think it works best with [name]Lily[/name].
I would vote for [name]Cohen[/name] if it was spelled differently. I spelled my son Cowen (like [name]Owen[/name] with a c), but my favorite spelling is Cowan. That is the Irish spelling and does not cause any problems in the Jewish community. I adore the name and certainly don’t think that Jewish people get to keep it all to themselves when it has been around in many areas/ethnicities of the world for ages. But I would use a non-offensive spelling.
My second choice is [name]Connor[/name] because the rest don’t match [name]Lily[/name] as well.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Camden[/name]! I actually know a [name]Lily[/name]-[name]Connor[/name] sibset, but I don’t really the name [name]Connor[/name]. It seems kind of overused and plain to me. [name]Camden[/name] has the same playful sweetness as [name]Lily[/name] does, and the two age quite nicely together. Any ideas for a middle name? That could change things too.
