[name_m]Just[/name_m] found out I’m expecting in [name_u]January[/name_u]. We don’t know the sex yet but I’ve a hunch it’s a boy–and besides that I’ve had a second girl name picked out for awhile–but I’m struggling with boy names. We have a lot of time, but thought I’d solicit the board for some initial ideas. Criteria:
Our style is classic names (i.e. not new, invented or trendy) that have been used historically but aren’t super popular at the moment. We also lilt toward more British-style names than American.
We do two middle names.
Would be great to get some ideas that go well with our daughter’s name which is [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_u]March[/name_u].
Our last name is two syllables and starts with an M.
For context, our girl choice at this point is: [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
Thanks all! That’s what we’re going for – recognizable but still unique.
These are some good ideas. [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] and [name_m]Crispin[/name_m] were already on my list, but not sure if they’re too out there for me. I do love the nn [name_u]Dash[/name_u], though. You really can’t go wrong with that. And I think it meshes well with [name_f]Cecily[/name_f].
You guys are definitely hitting on some names that we’ve considered before. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (nn [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]), [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] and [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] were all on our list before we knew DD was a D.
[name_m]Rufus[/name_m] I love but I’m worried it’s too hipster-y (we live in [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] so this is a RL concern lol). [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] has been on DH and my list for ages–we love it but the beef I have with it is that it’s so short and I’m not sure how it sounds with [name_f]Cecily[/name_f].
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] I think sounds great with [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and I love the name [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. It might be too soft for DH’s tastes, though.
Anyway thanks again – I’ll probably pop back on here after we find out the sex to solicit some more concrete advice
