Baby boy name Isidore

I’m considering using the name [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] as a middle name to honor a relative. Any thoughts or comments on this name? Or any other boy names that start with ‘I’ you can think of? [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] has already been taken by another family member and DH dislikes [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m].

Potential first names are [name_m]Jett[/name_m], [name_u]Sterling[/name_u], and [name_m]Zander[/name_m]. Thanks.

I cannot get enough of [name_m]Isidore[/name_m], I would say use it absolutely. Other ‘I’ names include:

[name_m]Ivo[/name_m]/[name_m]Ivor[/name_m]/[name_m]Ivan[/name_m]
[name_m]Iago[/name_m]
[name_m]Icarus[/name_m]
[name_m]Idris[/name_m]
[name_m]Ignatius[/name_m]/Ignatas/[name_m]Inigo[/name_m]/[name_m]Ingo[/name_m]
[name_m]Ilan[/name_m]/[name_m]Ilar[/name_m]/[name_m]Ilya[/name_m]/Ilyas
[name_m]Immanuel[/name_m]
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_m]Ingram[/name_m]
[name_m]Irvine[/name_m]

Maybe something there will appeal, but I really hope you go with [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] - it’s amazing!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I wasn’t even familar with it before I went down the baby naming hole this time around. While I love [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] and know it can be unisex it feels more like a girl’s name to me. What do you think?

I really like [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] and think it’s a great choice. I like [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] and it leans boy for me, but I prefer [name_m]Isidore[/name_m].

[name_m]Isidore[/name_m] leans girl for me? Maybe because I just hear “[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]” which I love, but is so distinctly feminine to me. I like it though and think it would make a unique choice. I personally prefer [name_m]Idris[/name_m] or [name_m]Inigo[/name_m], though, as more masculine-sounding choices. Good luck!

I love [name_m]Isidore[/name_m]! It’s very handsome, and I think it makes a wonderful middle name. The only other I boys names I like/know are [name_m]Ignacio[/name_m], [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] (one of my favourites, definitely leans to boy for me), and [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m].

At the risk of showing my name ignorance, I immediately thought of [name_m]Isadore[/name_m] or [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]. However, I do not think that makes it problematic. I don’t think having a middle name that people might initially describe as feminine isn’t bad at all, but you might want to be aware of it.

I love [name_m]Isadore[/name_m]. It may be somewhat inaccessible as a first, but it is a winner as a middle. It reminds me of St. [name_m]Isadore[/name_m] the [name_m]Farmer[/name_m] - a great association for me. I also like it much more than [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] {though I do like [name_m]Inigo[/name_m]}. It seems more genuine.

[name_m]Isidore[/name_m] is a GREAT choice!

Yes, I thought of that but it seems to have been a male name first with [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] coming later so it doesn’t bother me. In fact, I loved [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] so much it was a consideration for a girl baby’s middle before I knew what I was having. I also love [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] but feel it may be too common for my liking so this feels like a good compromise.

I like it! I know two Isidores!

Hmmm, what are they like? Have they ever said they have problems with people thinking it was a feminine name?

[name_m]Isidore[/name_m] a million times over! It’s one of my favorite male names. I would faint if I ever met an [name_m]Isidore[/name_m].

I would have though [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] was a girl’s name just by hearing it. In the middle spot, I suppose that’s not a major issue.

I like [name_m]Irving[/name_m], [name_m]Ian[/name_m], [name_m]Idris[/name_m], and [name_m]Ingram[/name_m]

I quite like [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] - it’s certainly different while still being a classic choice. I love [name_m]Ivor[/name_m] as well but to be honest I think [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] goes best with the first names you’re considering. I love [name_m]Jett[/name_m] or [name_m]Zander[/name_m] [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] - perfect clash of modern and traditional [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
