You all have the BEST names/naming advice, and I am desperate for some help. I’m 6 months pregnant with our first little boy, and we thought we’d picked out a name, but we’ve been using it for a couple of months now and it’s just not sitting right with me. The name we chose was [name_m]Westen[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. Last name starts with Ess. I like [name_m]Westen[/name_m], but I think people with shorten it to [name_m]Wes[/name_m] and [name_m]Wes[/name_m] Ess doesn’t flow well for me.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] any of you crazy creative people have a first/middle name pairing that you [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] that would sound good with the our last name? The last name is sort of pronounced like ESS-OD. I’d love a strong sounding name that would be shortened to something a little softer and sweeter when he’s a baby, if that makes sense. But I’m also open to just really cool sounding names and you guys come up with the best stuff!
Any and all suggestions would be much appreciated [name_m]Even[/name_m] if it’s just sending me some of your favorite combos! Thanks all!
Perhaps you’d like [name_m]Warren[/name_m]? It’s similar to [name_m]Weston[/name_m], and I think [name_m]Warren[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is a very handsome combo, and [name_u]Ren[/name_u] is a cute nickname.
I’m not sure my favorites fit your style, but you’re welcome to look in my signature for inspiration if you’d like.
You can mix & match these however you want to, but some of my favorite combos are [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m], [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m], [name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_m]Raphael[/name_m], and [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m].
First of all, I have to agree that people will probably shorten it to [name_m]Wes[/name_m], so if it clashes with your last name, then it’s probably a good choice to switch.
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Westen[/name_m]? If you don’t like the flip, here’s some other suggestions:
[name_m]Wolf[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] (I’ve been crushing on this combo for a while now)
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], nn [name_m]Wiley[/name_m].
([name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] is also handsome)
Other names that you might like:
[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] nn [name_u]Dash[/name_u]
[name_m]Preston[/name_m]
[name_m]Patton[/name_m]
[name_u]Brighton[/name_u] ( I know a guy with this name and he gets so many compliments on his name)
[name_u]Britton[/name_u]
Other middles along the same lines as [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]:
[name_m]Christopher[/name_m]
[name_m]Evander[/name_m]
[name_m]Leander[/name_m] (really like this, could make a lovely first with the nickname [name_u]Lee[/name_u])
[name_m]Maximus[/name_m] or [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m]
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
Hmm. [name_m]Westen[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is very handsome, but I’d probably avoid [name_m]Wes[/name_m] Ess-- personally. Some more ideas to work with [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] ‘Essod’…
[name_m]Wes[/name_m] is a sweet name, but I agree that the flow with your last name is a bit strange.
I love the suggestion of [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] “[name_m]Wiley[/name_m]” for you; it feels very similar in style to [name_m]Westen[/name_m]. I’d pair it with another middle though, like [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m], to avoid the double -er ending in [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. That’s just me though!
My favorite suggestion for you is [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. Not a huge change from [name_m]Westen[/name_m] sound-wise, but instead of nickname [name_m]Wes[/name_m], you get [name_u]Win[/name_u]!
I think Easton Alexander is handsome. Plus, if anyone asks why you changed your choice, you could say you “went in another direction” with his his name
I like [name_m]Westen[/name_m] a lot, actually, although I’m more accustomed to the [name_m]Weston[/name_m] spelling (seeing them side-by-side, though, I have to say I prefer the look of [name_m]Westen[/name_m]!). Does the nn [name_u]West[/name_u] help at all with the flow? [name_u]West[/name_u] Ess-od sounds better to me than [name_m]Wes[/name_m] Ess-od, but I don’t know your surname, and you do. I think [name_m]Westley[/name_m] is super cute, too, and [name_m]Westley[/name_m] Ess-od sounds great to me, too.
That being said, personally, I wouldn’t use a nn unless the child is introduced to me with that nn, the nn is used exclusively, or I’ve asked and the parent has given the okay for me to use a nn for the child. So if I knew a little [name_m]Westen[/name_m], I wouldn’t be calling him [name_m]Wes[/name_m] anyhow, unless you already were. Not sure that’s how the rest of the world operates, though…
If you like [name_m]Westen[/name_m], you might also like:
