So we were surprised with a 3rd. We didn’t have a name for our youngest until an hour before we left the hospital, and It took awhile to grow on me. Both our boys have family names, which I feel we’ve exhausted. And we call them both by their middle names (I know some people have strong opinions about that), my husband is Jefferson but goes by his middle and it’s common in his family (from the south), his dad’s also Jefferson. So our oldest is Jefferson Hayes (family surname), we call him Hayes and our youngest is William Dailey. William is my dad and Dailey is a family surname. We call him Dailey. So Hayes, Dailey and _____? Do we need to do another family name, and call him by his middle too? Idk I’ve got Arthur and Fredrick left, I don’t have any more surnames I love, there’s Vickers, Hamilton, Ryan and Stewart. I’m thinking just something that matches Hayes and Dailey. We have a very scot/Irish Mc last name. Any ideas?
Oh my, that’s a tough one. I suppose I’d be reluctant to break the tradition, with big brothers’ meaningful names. But you should be excited about your third boy’s name too.
I think I’d recommend keeping the pattern of a family first and middle, but not necessarily calling him by his middle, unlike your older boys. For example, [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u], but instead of calling him [name_u]Ryan[/name_u], call him [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] or [name_u]Ricky[/name_u] or [name_u]Trace[/name_u] (a misspelling of tres, for three) or something totally different. That way he has the rich family connection but you don’t feel trapped by tradition.
I think [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] Vickers is a winner. Vickers is a cute nickname
[name_u]Hayes[/name_u], [name_m]Dailey[/name_m] and…
[name_u]Brooks[/name_u]
[name_m]Leon[/name_m]

[name_u]Denver[/name_u]
[name_m]Rockwell[/name_m]
[name_m]Redford[/name_m]
[name_u]Beckett[/name_u]
Congratulations on number 3 !
I love [name_m]Jefferson[/name_m] [name_u]Hayes[/name_u] and [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Dailey[/name_m] and how sentimental the boys names are. I know your not the biggest fan with the names left but there are some amazing contenders that feel like they stylistically match your older boys.
[name_u]Ryan[/name_u] [name_m]Stewart[/name_m]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m] / [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] Vickers
[name_m]Hamilton[/name_m] Stewart/ [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m]
That being said I also feel like you should name the baby something you absolutely love- after all , you deserve it!

I think [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Tavish[/name_m] Mc___ would be a stellar addition to your sibset

Thanks! You gave me some good ideas and a fresh perspective. I also had [name_u]Niall[/name_u] on my short list of names, the only one my husband didn’t hate! Too funny.
Thanks for the ideas!
I think you should ignore any pattern unless you love the name the best. Choose what you love should be your priority, IMO.
With [name_u]Hayes[/name_u] and [name_m]Dailey[/name_m] (which I love by the way) I like…
