I love [name]Lincoln[/name] [name]Michael[/name]! The nn [name]Linc[/name] is so cool (I’m sure your hubby loves it for the [name]Zelda[/name] reference?) It’s definitely my favorite, followed by [name]Vaughn[/name] [name]Michael[/name]. [name]Vaughn[/name] has that edgy, cool feel to it.
[name]Lincoln[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton (nn [name]Linc[/name]) - I love [name]Lincoln[/name]! It’s such a strong, masculine name. With the [name]Abraham[/name] [name]Lincoln[/name] namesake you can’t go wrong here. And the nn [name]Linc[/name]? Adorable! This is definitely my favorite.
[name]Miller[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton (nn [name]Mac[/name]) - I don’t like [name]Miller[/name] as a fn, but I love [name]Mac[/name] as a nn.
Degory [name]Michael[/name] Holton (nn [name]Grey[/name]) - I like the idea of using a unique family name with some history as the fn, but my first thoughts on Degory is that it sounds like you’re saying “the gory” with a Jamaican accent, like “de gory crime scene.” [name]Grey[/name] is cute as a nn, but I feel like it’s becoming a little overused.
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton (nn [name]Finn[/name]) - I love [name]Finley[/name]/[name]Finn[/name] on a boy! I see [name]Finley[/name] used on girls sometimes and I wonder why because it’s a very masculine name to me. But it doesn’t seem like a name that would age well imo. Can you imagine a 32-year-old [name]Finley[/name]? Have you considered using just [name]Finn[/name]? I think that would age much better.
[name]Vaughn[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton - I’m personally not a fan of [name]Vaughn[/name]. It sounds like “van” with a strong British accent.
[name]Lyndon[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton - I’m not a fan of [name]Lyndon[/name] either. Although a nice presidential name, it sounds very nerdy to me.
[name]Davin[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton - I prefer [name]Devin[/name] or [name]David[/name].
[name]Lincoln[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton (nn [name]Linc[/name])- [name]Ive[/name] never been a big fan of [name]Lincoln[/name]. It reminds me of the car and the president or corse. They are both very strong associations for me.
[name]Miller[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton (nn [name]Mac[/name])- Millers are moths. I wouldnt want my kid sharing a name with a bug.
Degory [name]Michael[/name] Holton- It is a cool family reference but I dont love the name. Maybe it would make a good mn for a future son?
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton- Very handsome combo.
[name]Vaughn[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton- Cool name
[name]Lyndon[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton - the y makes it look very feminine imo. This wouldnt be my first pick.
[name]Davin[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton- Is this prn like Da-vin ([name]Gavin[/name] with a D) or [name]Day[/name]-vin (like [name]David[/name] with n).
[name]Lincoln[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton - well, [name]Lincoln[/name] is technically a last name, so it’s a little awkward to me, but I have to admit it sounds very distinguished, the kind of name you’d expect a judge to have.
So overall, not a bad choice.
[name]Miller[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton - M.M. Holton, I really like the nickname [name]Mac[/name].
That being said, Miler really is a last name and I think that it doesn’t make a particularly good first name, there has to be another name that offers the nickname [name]Mac[/name]. Go for [name]Mackenzie[/name], or Mackintosh(if you’re feeling really posh) or whatever else you can think of, because I don’t like this name very much and I’d be happy if you could find a better one
Degory [name]Michael[/name] Holton - either go for Diggory(not very first name-y) or actually [name]Gregory[/name], Degory is not a bad name, but it looks really weird
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton - lovely name, no doubt about it, but [name]Finn[/name] and all it’s variations are way too popular, there must be literally milions of Finns running around in the world
[name]Vaughn[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton - good combination. You could also go for [name]Michael[/name] [name]Vaughn[/name] Holton, when you say it it sounds like [name]Michael[/name] von Holton, gives that special dutch feel to it
[name]Lyndon[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton - a thoroughly lovely name
[name]Davin[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton - [name]Davin[/name] looks like a miss-spelled [name]David[/name], I prefer [name]Devin[/name], but that’s close to devil and might thus scare you of.
My favorites hands-down are [name]Lincoln[/name] and Degory. Normally, for me, last names first are a huge no-no, but the nn [name]Linc[/name] makes [name]Lincoln[/name] very accessible. If I may suggest the spelling [name]Link[/name], instead of [name]Linc[/name], it makes it feel a bit more complete if that is what you’ll be calling him exclusively. If I saw [name]Linc[/name] written on a school assignment, I’d just figure that he forgot to add the rest of his name.
Degory is definitely a new one, but I’m reminded of Digory from The Magician’s Nephew in Chronicles of [name]Narnia[/name]. One of my favorite characters from one of my favorite books. The name might be more accepted if you used Digory, but if Degory is the one close to your heart, go for it.
***[name]Edit[/name]: Apparently I don’t read very well. Your last name is Holton. The -on ending repeating in both [name]Lincoln[/name] and Holton makes it sound a little awkward. Sorry. If you were going with straight [name]Linc[/name], then not a big deal, but the extra -on (or -oln in this case) doesn’t work so well.
That fact, and the [name]Grey[/name] nickname, makes Degory my top choice by far.
Hello, I was so happy to see you are considering the name [name]Lincoln[/name]. My mom’s only regret in life is not being able to name my brother [name]Lincoln[/name], [name]Lincoln[/name] [name]Jenkins[/name] just sounds horrible. I vote for [name]Lincoln[/name], I think it’s super cute!
Sorry to be a downer, but I think [name]Lincoln[/name] Holton is a major tongue-twister! I’d recommend against this name, as well as any other -on ending names.
I’m not meaning any offense, but the names sound like law firms. Might I suggest some spunkier names?
[name]Leander[/name] ([name]Lincoln[/name] is [name]WAY[/name] popular… #188 last year)
[name]Macon[/name] (nn [name]Mac[/name])
Digory or [name]Darcy[/name]
I agree with greyer; [name]Lincoln[/name] Holton is a mouthful and there are no cute nicknames that could come of it. [name]Miller[/name] is probably my favorite on your list. [name]Vaughn[/name] is good too, but is poised to become quite popular (from what I’ve read). I’m not feeling [name]Finley[/name] at all, sorry. I think it’s overused, not to mention there will be plenty of little Finns when your child grows up.
[name]Blake[/name] seems like it’s getting to be a little dated to me. [name]Lincoln[/name], I like. But if you don’t want a popular name, then I wouldn’t go with it.
I absolutey [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Miller[/name] and [name]Vaughn[/name]. They are two of my favorite names, but my dh has vetoed both of them. All your names are great, but these two are by far my favorite.
I’ve personally never liked [name]Lincoln[/name], and i think, as others have pointed out, it sounds clunky with your surname.
i like Degory, its very different and sounds good with your surname…[name]Grey[/name] is a good nn, but you could have others with it, like Diggy or Digsy? cute, i think, for a little kid!
other suggestions i have are
[name]Archer[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton
[name]Penn[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton
[name]Cooper[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton
[name]Prosper[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton (nn Prop)
for the ‘[name]Mac[/name]’ nickname, how about [name]Macaulay[/name]?
[name]Jacoby[/name] [name]Michael[/name] Holton
