Looking for suggestions for names for a brother to our daughter, [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]. We definitely prefer more classic names (hence [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]!). Must be easily spelled and pronounced - no “unique twists”. Our last name is really plain. I like the sound of a name that starts with another vowel as I think it would match well with [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], but that’s not a requirement. And I kind of think that it should be shorter (1-2 syllables) because [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is long, but again, not a requirement. Some names that I like are:
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_m]Luke[/name_m] (but we won’t go with this as we know another [name_m]Luke[/name_m] who’s too close)
[name_m]Conor[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] (again, listing to gives an example of what we like it but we won’t go with it)
Middle names (some have family significance):
[name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]John[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]
Does [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] go by a nickname? Personally I think another longer name would sound best with [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], but I’ll give some of both. I’ll star my favorites with [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]
I like [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] from your list! And I understand you want a shorter name to match [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] but I tend to match long names with long names but here is my try:
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m]. My heart did a little leap when I read that.
I also love [name_u]James[/name_u] (and think it goes great with [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]) and the only reason it’s in the middle name list is because one of my best friends has a [name_u]James[/name_u].
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] is new to me and I really like it. I’ll have to let that one marinade for a while and see if I still like it in a month or 2 :).
