We are 20 weeks with our second boy/last child. While we have a decent list, we cannot pull the trigger on any of them. What do you think? Older brother [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] nn [name_u]Gus[/name_u] will be two when baby is born.
Ambrose [name_m]Louis[/name_m] nn [name_u]Bo[/name_u]
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] nn [name_m]Mac[/name_m]
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] nn [name_u]Sully[/name_u]
[name_u]Niall[/name_u] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]/Louis probably no nn
[name_m]Dempsey[/name_m] ??? no middle or nn ideas yet
We have pros and cons with the first three, as they’ve been on our mind for over a month. The last two are new additions.
Good and bad impressions? Any new name suggestions?
Ambrose nn [name_u]Bo[/name_u]-I like [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] a lot, but it’s a little bit close to [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]. And [name_u]Bo[/name_u] is just not my favorite. [name_m]Just[/name_m] seems lacking.
Malcolm nn [name_m]Mac[/name_m]-So cute! This is handsome & charming w/Augustus. Well known yet unique. And [name_m]Mac[/name_m] is sporty & adorable.
Sullivan nn [name_u]Sully[/name_u]-That’s fun. I like [name_m]Mac[/name_m] slightly more, but this is handsome & different.
Niall-[name_u]Niall[/name_u]?! I never see this on lists, & I like it a lot! Such a great Irish name, that’s handsome & underused. I like [name_u]Niall[/name_u] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] slightly more, but [name_u]Niall[/name_u] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] honestly flows better. [name_m]Nils[/name_m] is a nn option.
Dempsey-This is different. I don’t love it though. It’s kind of hard to say? It’s not bad though. Maybe the nn [name_m]Dex[/name_m] would be cute.
I like both [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] and [name_u]Niall[/name_u]. You couldn’t go wrong with either. Another thought: [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] or Malachey?
Oscar, [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Winston[/name_m], and (Se)[name_m]Bastian[/name_m] we’re all on my list but taken off for various reasons.
Ambrose is my favorite despite some reservations I have with the name meaning and prior feedback that it sounds feminine. [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] is my husband’s favorite. And even though I just found [name_u]Niall[/name_u], it is really moving up the list for me!
Augustus [name_m]Charles[/name_m] nn [name_u]Gus[/name_u] is such a great name. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite from your list is easily [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] nn [name_m]Mac[/name_m]–[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] fits perfectly with [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], and [name_m]Mac[/name_m] is the ideal brother for [name_u]Gus[/name_u], imo. I love how they share style but not sound. [name_f]My[/name_f] second choice would be [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] nn [name_u]Bo[/name_u], because I love [name_u]Gus[/name_u] and [name_u]Bo[/name_u] as a pair. But I personally prefer not to repeat initials–I’m not sure if that bothers you. I love [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] nn [name_u]Sully[/name_u] but it shares a little too much sound with [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]/Gus for my liking; again, ymmv. [name_u]Niall[/name_u] is all One Direction to me, I’m sorry–but yet another case where you may feel completely differently I’m not sure about possible nicknames for [name_m]Dempsey[/name_m]–maybe [name_m]Des[/name_m], [name_m]Dex[/name_m], [name_f]Demy[/name_f]?
Ambrose and [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] are my favourites of your list, [name_u]Bo[/name_u] and [name_u]Sully[/name_u] are perfect brother names for [name_u]Gus[/name_u]! I like [name_m]Mac[/name_m] but I’m not a fan of [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], it feels very “middle aged man” to me. [name_m]Dempsey[/name_m] is interesting, too. I’ve not heard it before but it has a really nice sound!
Oh I love [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] with [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], they’re such a perfect pairing. And for what it’s worth I don’t think [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] sounds feminine at all.
People that have never heard of it think it sounds like a smoosh name of [name_f]Amber[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] Anyone who knows me would know better than to think I’d use a made up name but whatever. I’m surprised how much I’ve heard it, and that’s giving me pause.
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] - I’m not a massive fan of [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] also I do think this name is very close to [name_m]Augustus[/name_m].
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] - Again not a massive fan of [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] but I do like the [name_m]Mac[/name_m] nickname.
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] - I think [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] is a very handsome name I really love the nickname [name_u]Sully[/name_u] it’s a great choice with [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]. [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is a great name!
[name_u]Niall[/name_u] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]/Louis - love [name_u]Niall[/name_u] it has a very summery happy sound really outdoorsy and handsome. I think [name_u]Niall[/name_u] & [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] sounds lovely together. Prefer the middle name [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] for [name_u]Niall[/name_u].
[name_m]Dempsey[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] - [name_m]Dempsey[/name_m] is handsome choice I like the nickname of [name_f]Demi[/name_f] and I think it would work as a nickname for a boy despite generally being used for girls. I think [name_m]Louis[/name_m] sounds great with [name_m]Dempsey[/name_m] good choice.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_u]Niall[/name_u] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]
