I’m hoping this will help me out in deciding on a first name for our 2nd kiddo (due in mid-January).

1- Older sister is [name_u]Arya[/name_u] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
2- [name_u]Baby[/name_u] boy will have the middle name of [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] (honestly I’m not crazy about this, but it’s a family thing for hubby’s side & I like it well enough so I’ll roll with it).
3- I tend to like less known names (i.e., haven’t been in the top 50 or so for the past few years - we both actually really like [name_u]Liam[/name_u] but it’s way too popular) & we like somewhat Irish leaning names.

Open to considering others, but we scrolled through a lot of names & these are the front runners.
We have an app that works kinda like Tinder (I guess) & basically it pops up a name & you swipe left if you don’t like it & right if you do. You link with your partner & both of you swipe on the names within the app. When you “match” (aka - you both Like a name) it gives you a notification & then shows a list of the Matches. It has definitely been helpful in figuring out what names we do & don’t like.
So - we seem to be at a bit of an impasse… He’s REALLY pushing for [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], but I think I had already subconsciously decided on [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] or [name_m]Kian[/name_m].
After “matching” on the names Hubs decided that [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] & [name_m]Kian[/name_m] sound too close to “Karen” & he isn’t much of a fan of them anymore & of course those were my two favorites. He really loves [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], but I’m not completely in love with it & I think part of my hangup on it is that it sounds so close to our little girls middle name.
I really like [name_u]Declan[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] as a name!
[name_f]May[/name_f] I suggest [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] as a name? Otherwise maybe [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] or [name_u]Killian[/name_u]?

could [name_m]Conan[/name_m] maybe be an alternative?

There are actually 2 apps that we have that do basically the same thing, but the one has less features. They’re Android apps through the Google play store & I have no idea if there’s an [name_f]Apple[/name_f] store version.
One is just called “BabyName” & the icon looks like a white egg on a yellow background - this is the one with less features. The developer is “DoSomethingGood”.
The one with more features is called “Baby Name Together” & the icon is a light blue background with a stork holding a cloth bag with names toward the bottom of the bag. The developer is “Linkinet”. This one also lets you rank the names you like… but the system for that ranking is a bit off imo. After you have Liked some names you can go to the Ranking section & it give you two name options & you pick the one you like better of the two. It ends up giving you a score. But some of the names end up appearing in the ranking “game” less than others, so it may not be as true of a ranking as I’d like.
I love [name_m]Kian[/name_m] & [name_u]Declan[/name_u]! I like [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] too and don’t think it would be too much of a problem seeing as [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is a middle, if you did decide to use it…

I think since you’re using his family middle name you have more vote for his first name. Also [name_m]Patch[/name_m] is a cool nickname for [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]. I say use the name you’re in love with
[name_u]Conner[/name_u] is actually my nephew’s name & my littles are with him on a regular basis (he’s actually 3 months younger than my daughter), so unfortunately it’s out.
I do like some of your suggestions though! I’ll have to add them to the list!
[name_m]Riordan[/name_m], [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] and [name_m]Rhydian[/name_m] (or Rhidian) come to mind as similar sound wise to [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], but less similar to [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]!
Progress update! He still would prefer Ronan… but I think he has given up on it lol. He shot down pretty much all of my suggestions from here, but he found [name_u]Sloan[/name_u] on my list of likes & decided he liked it too, so we have that as an option too (plus it give his S first name initial that he would really like - he’s [name_u]Shawn[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m], & his dad is [name_m]Steven[/name_m] Patrick… not sure what grandpa’s name was, but I believe it had the middle name of [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] with first name starting with S)
Anyway – we’ve narrowed it down to [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], [name_u]Sloan[/name_u], or [name_u]Declan[/name_u]! (Which I’m much more agreeable to) & I think we’re leaning toward [name_u]Declan[/name_u]
I think [name_u]Declan[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] is a great name. But he wants something with an S, what about [name_m]Samson[/name_m] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]?
I’m not a fan of [name_m]Samson[/name_m]. Out of all of the S names that we’ve gone through I think [name_u]Sloan[/name_u] was pretty much the only one that I even remotely liked other than [name_u]Skyler[/name_u], which he shot down immediately.
I really tried to find an S name - per his request - but none of them really sounded good to me.

We ended up doing a double middle name because someone (aka Me) couldn’t decide between the 2 names after I finally gave [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] the official no!
Final name choice for baby is [name_u]Declan[/name_u] [name_u]Sloan[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] (lastnamehere)
