After five days of being overdue, our little one finally decided to come into the world! We were set on [name]Matilda[/name] for a girl and pretty set on either [name]Mathias[/name] or [name]August[/name] for a boy. After a 6 hour natural labor and birth our newest little boy entered the world! He arrived with a head full of light hair which was completely unexpected and looked overall differently than I was picturing. Much to my dismay I couldn’t see him as a [name]Mathias[/name] and I was unsure about [name]Gus[/name] or [name]August[/name] too. I thought he might be an [name]Atticus[/name] and then I realized his name when I almost called him [name]Beckett[/name] without realizing it. I didn’t say anything to my husband at that time because I wanted his opinion to be counted too…so we discussed names all day between visitors. Our boys came up to the hospital and they both still liked [name]Mathias[/name] best…our daughter called him [name]Baby[/name] [name]Gus[/name]. After all our visitors were gone we sat down and got serious. We discussed [name]Mathias[/name] and my husband said we can go ahead with that. He said it would grow on him. As much as I loved the name and the idea of it, he still didn’t look like [name]Mathias[/name] to me. I told him that I thought he looked like a [name]Beckett[/name]. I could just see my husbands eyes light up when I said it as we had loved this name for so long. Next we were on to middles. We went back and forth between [name]Henry[/name], [name]David[/name] and [name]Mathias[/name]. My husband expressed that he’d like to use [name]Henry[/name] over [name]David[/name] because he press honor names of people that are still here to feel honored by a namesake. [name]Henry[/name] is his middle name. We talked about [name]Beckett[/name] feeling like a spin-off of his name-[name]Buck[/name]…this is what drew us to the name originally. Since the first name felt to be directly after my husband, we decided to put my top pick, [name]Mathias[/name], in the middle. So finally after nine + months of deliberation and numerous nameberry posts, [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Mathias[/name] [name]Lou[/name] was named! We couldn’t be happier with our choice and he completed our family perfectly.
Thank you so so much to all the nameberries who helped me find my way through the sea of boy names we started with. I’m so happy to have spent so much time on the boy names since that’s what we ended up having. I know I’ll never feel namers remorse over his name because the naming process was covered so thoroughly from every angle.
