My husband and I have “decided” on the name [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] nn [name_u]Lexi[/name_u] but the closer we get the more I feel like I need to have other choices just in case. I have been drawn to [name_u]Lexi[/name_u] since the beginning and [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] is to honor my DH’s twin [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] Risti (my nephew’s mn is my DH mn)
Another name we agreed on was [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] but it just doesn’t feel right to me.
I feel like I just need a softer more girly name like [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] though DH doesn’t like it. Any suggestions?
I love the name [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f], and b/c [name_u]Lexi[/name_u] is fairly common, [name_f]Zandie[/name_f] has grown on me as a nn.
[name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] sounds nice though.
[name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] has been one of my favorite names for a while.
i know the feeling. I’m due in two weeks and also wavering with my choice. Maybe get some back ups and then when you see her, I am sure you will know?
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is lovely.
What about [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]? Or [name_f]Luciana[/name_f]/[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]/[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] - they’re pretty girly?
[name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] is gorgeous; I wouldn’t second guess it! It’s a standout choice, bold but not unheard of, and flows almost flawlessly with mn [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] with its “tough girl” meaning and strong, solid sound, [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] had always sounded beautiful and elegant to me; she’s a warrior, yes, but a warrior princess.
That being said, I think I name you might consider if [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] is officially nixed is [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] (the anglicized spelling; it’s traditionally [name_f]Nathalie[/name_f], with a silent H). The obvious Frenchness of it gives it a beautiful sound without wandering into the wilds of crazy things like [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] and [name_f]Zephyrine[/name_f]. It’s soft and feminine, but the first syllable packs punch, much like the “lex/lexi” in [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] and the “mad” syllable in [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]. It’s familiar, but not over-saturized, and I don’t think it’ll ever end up in the top ten. The [name_f]Nathalie[/name_f] pronunciation gives it a certain flair, much like the added “i” gives [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] from common ground [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f].
[name_f]Felixa[/name_f]? [name_u]Lexi[/name_u] could be a nickname for that. [name_f]Felixa[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] “[name_f]Happy[/name_f] victory”.
If that’s not feminine enough, [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is a more familiar form of [name_m]Felix[/name_m].
Otherwise you could consider [name_f]Lexandra[/name_f]/Lexandria/[name_u]Alexis[/name_u]/[name_f]Alexa[/name_f]/[name_f]Alexia[/name_f]/Alexabeth.
Other names that give me the same feel as [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f]:

I like [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f]. Those are just other options in case you want them.
I think I’m probably just over thinking it since we are so close. Couldn’t use [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] as that is my [name_m]SIL[/name_m]'s name and then while I like [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] it is a close friends name. I guess I jus thought I need something more frilly and softer ( the x sound was getting to me like the hard d in [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] was earlier). Thanks for all the feedback though! I guess I should just wait to meet her and then hopefully I will just “know”!
