[name_u]Baby[/name_u] number three is due this week…this is our third daughter and we’re really struggling to find a name!
Our daughters are called [name_f]Lila[/name_f] (pronounced lie-la) and [name_f]Edie[/name_f].
‘Final’ list at the moment;
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] (too popular?)
[name_f]Ayla[/name_f] (pronounced a-la. Too similar to [name_f]Lila[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Lois[/name_f]
Which would you go with? [name_f]Happy[/name_f] for other suggestions too!
I love the name [name_f]Edie[/name_f] (we were considering this for our daughter) and [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is sweet too.
I feel like [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is useable but quite similar to [name_f]Lila[/name_f], maybe a tad too much… It’s my favourite of your options, though.
[name_f]Lois[/name_f] probably works better, as does [name_f]Ava[/name_f], although the popularity of the latter would bother me.
So, although [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is my favourite, I’d say your best option is [name_f]Lois[/name_f]!
If [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is pronounced like [name_f]Isla[/name_f], it’s too similar. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is popular, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use it. [name_f]Lois[/name_f] is cute. I’d go with either [name_f]Lois[/name_f] or [name_f]Ava[/name_f].
I like the suggestions of [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] (but none of yours are 5 letters long), [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f].
Some suggestions to go with [name_f]Edie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f]:
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]
[name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassia[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is too close to [name_f]Isla[/name_f], and I’m not a fan of [name_f]Ava[/name_f] or [name_f]Lois[/name_f]. But out of those 3 I would choose [name_f]Lois[/name_f].
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] is so beautiful, but yes, still enormously popular. [name_m]Just[/name_m] one suggestion: [name_f]Vada[/name_f], pronounced Vae-da
I do really love [name_f]Ava[/name_f] above any other options but it’s just so predictable and I don’t want her to be one of several in a class at school. I really like [name_f]Lois[/name_f] but as a few of you have said it does have a slightly different sound/style to it than [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Edie[/name_f].
Interestingly, we did previously have [name_u]Romy[/name_u] and [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] on the list as a few have suggested!
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]. Yes I Iike [name_f]Lois[/name_f] leaps and bounds better than the other options. Yes I think I think [name_f]Lois[/name_f] fits in with your other girls. And yes I recognize the popularity of [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. She very well may have another [name_f]Ava[/name_f] in her kindergarten class. No it’s not my favorite. BUT it’s the name you like the most therefore you should use it
I would go with [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]! I don’t think it’s too similar to [name_f]Lila[/name_f], the ‘la’ sound differs. Although their spelling is a bit close, I don’t think it’s too similar to the point that it’s unusable.
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Edie[/name_f] are some of my personal favourite names! Out of your list I like [name_f]Lois[/name_f] or [name_f]Ava[/name_f] the best, but if you’re not 100% in love with them here are some other ideas.
From your list I think [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is the best. [name_f]Lois[/name_f] doesn’t go with the others very well, and [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] sounds too close to [name_f]Lila[/name_f]. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is a gorgeous name (there’s a reason it’s popular!) and the other girls have names that are popular too.
Some other names you might like:
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] (less popular than [name_f]Ava[/name_f] but maybe too close to [name_f]Edie[/name_f])
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Nola[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]/[name_f]Norah[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]/[name_f]Adah[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u]/[name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_u]Kit[/name_u]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Aviva[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]/[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Edie[/name_f] are great names! Of your choices I think [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is my favorite. I hear you about the popularity of the name, but if you love it I would use it. I don’t feel like even “popular” names nowadays blow up like they did in previous generations, but you may have another [name_f]Ava[/name_f] with you in your daycare. Time magazine has a name popularity predictor tool you can google. It might help you decide if you want to rule the name out.
Also, my cousin named her daughter [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] and calls her [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. So you could find a more unique name and use [name_f]Ava[/name_f] as a nn.
Here are a few others to consider:
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Aida[/name_f]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucie[/name_f]
[name_f]Frida[/name_f] (I think [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] is a cute nn for this, but maybe too close to [name_f]Edie[/name_f])
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f] ([name_f]Pippa[/name_f])
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Silvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] ([name_u]Charlie[/name_u])
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f]
Thank you! We have already used [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] as a middle name otherwise that would be a contender.
Oh I’m so confused between [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Lois[/name_f]!
I feel like I’ve looked at every name under the sun and for one reason or another have ruled out. The other main one was [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] but it seems too long when my other daughters have short names and it doesn’t go so well with our surname.
I would go with [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. It’s a a very pretty name with history, and I think it matches her sisters well. Also, you have said that it’s your favorite option. That trumps popularity! For what it’s worth, I work for the schools, and I’ve only ever had a few Avas. I’ve had more Audreys and Aubreys and Addies! And two Bronwyns. go figure. You really can’t predict what will be popular in your daughter’s class.
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] is my favorite with [name_f]Lila[/name_f] & [name_f]Edie[/name_f]. I personally think [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] goes perfectly with your other two. It’s only 1 syllable longer, but still sounds like a sister to [name_f]Lila[/name_f] & [name_f]Edie[/name_f]. I’d only rule it out if it just absolutely doesn’t go with your last name.
