Baby F

I am 15 weeks along and I have a boys and a girls name picked out for baby but they need middles.

If its a girl-- [name]Finch[/name]
If its a boy-- [name]Fleet[/name]

I’m open to anything. Surprise me. Go nuts. I have a pretty eclectic taste.

[name]Baby[/name]'s last name starts with a M and ends with er.

Excited to see what you come up with!!

I love your names! [name]Finch[/name] and [name]Fleet[/name] are super cute!!! I’ll have to come back to you with suggestions though, you have, as you say, a pretty eclectic naming style…

I’m expecting in [name]March[/name] as well, I’m not even near to finding a name… pretty impressed by you!

I love the nautical/speedy associations of [name]Fleet[/name]-- but, as you doubtless know, it’s a famous enema.

Given that your first son’s middles are [name]David[/name] [name]Patrick[/name] and your second son is [name]Dexter[/name], are there any other family names in the running that you feel you’d like to use?

For your daughter [name]Finch[/name], you need at least two syllables, emphasis on either. I could see:

[name]Epiphany[/name]
[name]Arcadia[/name]
[name]Halcyon[/name]

[name]Nephele[/name] (nymph of the clouds)

Limnaia (nymph of the lakes)
Polyhymnia
[name]Astraea[/name]

Thank you!!! My due date is [name]March[/name] 23rd.

When is yours?? Congrats!!

Anyone have any suggestions??

Thanks [name]Blade[/name]!!

I am aware of [name]Fleet[/name] enemas. I don’t know yet how much that matters to me because all I think of is ships.
As for the girl middle suggestions, they are very interesting but a little too odd for my taste. I like quirkiness and sugary names that are a little less serious.
I think my favorite from your list is [name]Jubilee[/name] though, which was once in the running for first.

For [name]Fleet[/name], same idea-- you’d need at least two syllables.

Evocative Word Names:

Dauntless
Scintilla
[name]Cascade[/name]
Bacchanale
Impervious
Imbroglio
Inexorable
Mercurial
Quixotic
Sonorous
Vulpine (crafty like a fox/wolf)
[name]Crimson[/name]
Maelstrom

Elixir
Ebullient
Ephemeral
Insouciance

Riparian (“like a river”)
Seraglio (palace where the sultan’s harem lived)

Cool Names of Sea-Captains:

[name]Horatio[/name]
[name]Vitus[/name] Bering (both names)
[name]Bainbridge[/name]
[name]Prince[/name] Junio [name]Valerio[/name] Scipione Borghese

[name]Cristobal[/name] ([name]Columbus[/name])

[name]Vasco[/name] de Gama
Catesby ([name]Jones[/name], Civil War sea captain)
Magellan
[name]Hugh[/name] Mulzac (first black US [name]Navy[/name] captain)
St [name]Malo[/name] (French sea port)

I’m due on the 27th! It’s my first so I’m very nervous and excited!!

Ok, some quirky and sugary names (in my opinion):

Iynx
Villanelle
[name]Peaches[/name]
[name]Pixie[/name]
Neroli
Trixibelle

I have to second the enema reference. Though I think [name]Finch[/name] is darling, [name]Sparrow[/name] is also a gp of mine.

[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Poem[/name]
[name]Sonnet[/name]
[name]Cadence[/name]
[name]Aria[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]

Are these closer to your style?

Oh, whoops. Wrong direction. You’re more [name]Zooey[/name] Deschanel and I was going [name]Tim[/name] [name]Burton[/name].

oooh [name]Piper[/name] would be a cute one too. [name]Finch[/name] [name]Piper[/name]!

Haha @blade. I’m a fan of both but I guess you could say my naming style is more [name]Zooey[/name] Deschanel.

Everyone is going in a great direction but nothing I’m dying over yet.

I thought a bit more about meter. I think for [name]Finch[/name] you need a 2 or 3-syllable middle with the stress on the final syllable.

[name]Finch[/name] [name]Jubilee[/name]
[name]Finch[/name] Joviale

[name]Fleet[/name] [name]Issac[/name]
[name]Fleet[/name] [name]Xavier[/name]

[name]Fleet[/name] [name]Alchemy[/name]
[name]Fleet[/name] [name]Socrates[/name]
[name]Fleet[/name] [name]Oswald[/name]

Ahh!! @shanbrownie I think my heart fluttered when I saw [name]Finch[/name] Firefly. So cute.
And [name]Finch[/name] [name]Delilah[/name] has been on my list but I was never quite sure about it. Also, [name]Finch[/name] [name]Lavender[/name]!

[name]Fleet[/name] [name]Oswald[/name]!!! Adorable. And hubby says he kinda likes it too!!!

Thanks so much.

Aww you’re so welcome! Brainstorming for you was so fun! Loving your fearless and funky taste in names. [name]Fleet[/name] [name]Oswald[/name] IS adorable and I had a feeling you’d like [name]Finch[/name] Firefly?!

[name]Finch[/name] Firefly is way cool! Well, maybe a little much, but you use something like [name]Finch[/name] Firefly [name]Claire[/name] and you could have a winner…

Hm. What about:

[name]Finch[/name] [name]Alouette[/name]
[name]Finch[/name] [name]Amandine[/name]*
[name]Finch[/name] [name]Elora[/name]
[name]Finch[/name] [name]Eloise[/name]*
[name]Finch[/name] Hosanna
[name]Finch[/name] [name]Melisande[/name]
[name]Finch[/name] [name]Mirabeau[/name]*
[name]Finch[/name] [name]Noemi[/name]
[name]Finch[/name] Rosemae
[name]Finch[/name] [name]Rosemarie[/name]
[name]Finch[/name] [name]Verbena[/name]

[name]Finch[/name] is tough because it seems like she should have a vowel middle (e.g., [name]Finch[/name] [name]Amandine[/name]), but I’m struggling to find one to your taste! [name]Finch[/name] [name]Amaryllis[/name] is cool, though, too…

[name]Fleet[/name] [name]Peregrine[/name] sprung to mind, though [name]Fleet[/name] [name]Oswald[/name] is adorable. What’s the balance between first son’s classic middles and second son’s wordy-wow middle? That’s your debate, I’m sure.

[name]Fleet[/name] [name]Alastair[/name]
[name]Fleet[/name] [name]Archibald[/name]
[name]Fleet[/name] Caraway
[name]Fleet[/name] [name]Deveraux[/name]*
[name]Fleet[/name] [name]Julius[/name]
[name]Fleet[/name] Merrimack*
[name]Fleet[/name] Orleans
[name]Fleet[/name] [name]Peregrine[/name]*
[name]Fleet[/name] [name]Pierrot[/name]
[name]Fleet[/name] [name]Remington[/name]

Best of luck!

[name]Lemon[/name]

@lemon, well I named [name]Pilot[/name] and we couldn’t decide which grandpa to use for middle. So we used both. Out second (unexpected) boy came 18 months later. We couldn’t agree on anything!! He wanted [name]Oscar[/name], I wanted a name more like [name]Pilot[/name]. Finally I agreed that we could use [name]Dexter[/name] I said I get to pick the middle, hence [name]Audio[/name]. Now that he sees the amount of positive attention [name]Pilot[/name]'s name gets compared to [name]Dexter[/name]'s, I pretty much have free range with this baby.

I do like the balance of name-word or word-name. So [name]Finch[/name] Firefly is feeling like a bit much to me. I’d be willing to use Firefly with another name if it was perfect!!
