[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sidonie[/name_f]
[name_f]Thais[/name_f]
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]

I would love any thoughts & opinions on these names. Suggestions & criticism are welcome! My husband isn’t sold on any of these…

Merit - Cute! A nice virtuous name that still sounds familiar.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], but I also like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], though I think it needs a modern nickname to balance the old feel.
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f] - seems a little thrown together, but I like the sound and nicknames.
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] - I don’t mind it, but it still sounds a little too old. Would also need a nice nickname, imo.
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] - [name_f]LOVE[/name_f]. I adore [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]. but in case you hadn’t noticed, I’m a stickler for nicknames, which it falls short in.
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] - I like the idea of it, but it’s awkward to say in my opinion.
[name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] - Hard to distinguish from [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m], so it doesn’t actually sound that feminine to me.
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Theda[/name_f] - I really like it, but I like [name_f]Thea[/name_f] better as a nickname.
[name_f]Annette[/name_f] - A little dated. But I think it could make a comeback. Like it.
[name_f]Corinne[/name_f] - Cute! Spunky and modern.
[name_u]Teal[/name_u] - I like color names, but not digging [name_u]Teal[/name_u].
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f] - [name_f]Love[/name_f]! So sleek and elegant yet wearable.
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] - Fusty and old in my opinion. And I don’t like the natural nickname [name_u]Connie[/name_u].
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] - [name_f]Love[/name_f]. Very modern and fresh, and great meaning.
[name_u]Dominique[/name_u] - really dislike. So old and frilly.
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] - [name_f]LOVE[/name_f]. Much softer and prettier than [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] to me, though I like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] too.
[name_f]Sidonie[/name_f] - pronounced just like [name_u]Sydney[/name_u]? or is the emphasis on the second syllable? It’s a little confusing.
[name_f]Thais[/name_f] - Dislike. Pronunciation seems like it would be a pain.
[name_f]Alma[/name_f] - so vanilla. and old. Not a fan.

Ohh I will include my potential nicknames if that helps!

Merit- not sure

[name_f]Marietta[/name_f]- [name_f]Etta[/name_f]

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]- [name_f]Lolly[/name_f]
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]- [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f]- [name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Theda[/name_f]

[name_f]Constance[/name_f]- [name_u]Connie[/name_u]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]- [name_f]Irie[/name_f]
[name_u]Dominique[/name_u]- [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]- Neeley
[name_f]Sidonie[/name_f]- [name_m]Sid[/name_m]-oh-nee, love it, but prob won’t use
[name_f]Thais[/name_f]- [name_m]Tah[/name_m]-ees
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]

Merit= [name_f]Love[/name_f] it

[name_u]Dominique[/name_u]= [name_f]Love[/name_f] it, lots of nn options, gorgeous, familiar without being trendy or too popular

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]= like this a lot lately, but feel like the word Limp within this name calls bullies forth, thus, more like a middle name choice for me

[name_f]Iris[/name_f]= pretty, possibly becoming too popular, but still a gorgeous name as far as flower names go

[name_f]Sidonie[/name_f]- Looks like a smash of [name_f]Sedona[/name_f] and [name_u]Sydney[/name_u]. I prefer [name_u]Sydney[/name_u], as it is one of my current crushes.

The other names I didn’t mention are just not my taste, based on the above five, here are some ideas you AND hubby may agree on:

[name_f]Atlanta[/name_f], [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_f]Carolina[/name_f], [name_u]Cheyenne[/name_u]

[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Brighton[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u], [name_u]Laurence[/name_u], [name_f]Brinna[/name_f]

[name_f]Lillian[/name_f], [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], [name_f]Cambria[/name_f], [name_f]Camille[/name_f], [name_f]Beverley[/name_f], [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]

[name_u]Damaris[/name_u], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], [name_u]Simone[/name_u], [name_f]Natalia[/name_f], [name_f]Emberly[/name_f], [name_f]Nova[/name_f]

[name_m]Aries[/name_m], [name_u]Gemini[/name_u], Jodelle, [name_f]Oriana[/name_f], [name_u]Haven[/name_u]

I love [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] & [name_f]Nova[/name_f] but we can’t use them. [name_u]Simone[/name_u] is my daughter’s middle! I am considering [name_f]Camille[/name_f], thank you for the suggestion!

Would you mind sharing your daughter’s name? It might help us get a sense of names that fit with hers.

Merit - not a fan. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t love the sound, and in general this doesn’t feel like a name to me.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] - Classic, elegant and beautiful.
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f] - Pretty sound, but I visualize a bit of a snotty girl.
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] - a name that’s very much my style but has never quite grown on me. I like [name_f]Berenice[/name_f], though.
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] - nice. I prefer [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] - gorgeous, vintage name with lovely nickname possibilities.
[name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] - pretty.
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Theda[/name_f] - also lovely
[name_f]Annette[/name_f] - I read a book once with a really despicable character named [name_f]Annette[/name_f] and I’ve never liked the name sense.
[name_f]Corinne[/name_f] - again, dislike by association - every [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] I’ve met has been very unpleasant.
[name_u]Teal[/name_u] - more of a word than a name to me.
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f] - dislike the “nick” syllable, feels masculine.
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] - not a fan. Plus, I strongly dislike nn [name_u]Connie[/name_u].
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] - beautiful.
[name_u]Dominique[/name_u] - not my style.
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] - pretty.
[name_f]Sidonie[/name_f] - looks like a misspelling of [name_u]Sydney[/name_u].
[name_f]Thais[/name_f] - feels incomplete.
[name_f]Alma[/name_f] - a tad grandmotherly.

Suggestions:
[name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f]Anais[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Mirielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Thomasina[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Vedette[/name_f]

Merit - this is one I’d have to hear a few times and really think about; I would end up either loving or hating it!
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] - I love this name.
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f] - not a fan; it looks like someone smooshed an instrument and a hotel chain together.
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] - [name_f]Berna[/name_f] still has an old feel to it for me, and the dette ending makes me think feathered hair and the 70s.
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] - love, love, love
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] - it’s too unwieldy.
[name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] - perhaps if it were [name_f]Emmanuella[/name_f]…
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Theda[/name_f] - like the name, hate the nn.
[name_f]Annette[/name_f] - too 50s/60s
[name_f]Corinne[/name_f] - this is very pretty, but I can’t think of a flattering nn if that’s important to you.
[name_u]Teal[/name_u] - no
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f] - this sounds like one of my friends’ mothers
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] - I like the name [name_f]Constance[/name_f] a lot, but again having trouble with a nn.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] - literally no opinion either way
[name_u]Dominique[/name_u] - every [name_u]Dominique[/name_u] I know is a stage name for a drag show
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] - not my favorite
[name_f]Sidonie[/name_f] - I’ve never heard this before and am not even sure what it’s supposed to be. If my ignorance is the problem, I apologize!
[name_f]Thais[/name_f] - not sure how to pronounce this one, but I can see it being pronounced taze (rightly or wrongly), which is a verb of sorts (to taze someone, i.e. shoot with a Taser)
[name_f]Alma[/name_f] - this is pretty and unexpected

I really like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], [name_f]Constance[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Alma[/name_f].

Merit - ok for a unisex name but it doesn’t excite me
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] - I prefer the original Latin spelling of [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is a dairy brand in [name_f]Canada[/name_f].
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f] - A sweet Southern place name.
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] - I went to school with a tomboyish, spunky [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] nn [name_u]Bernie[/name_u] and she wore it well.
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] - strong and majestic
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] - I prefer the more pared down [name_f]Willa[/name_f] but this name is ok
[name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] - I love [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] for a boy but this female version makes me think of the erotic film.
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Theda[/name_f] - See [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] too.
[name_f]Annette[/name_f] - many “ette” names are “dated” but I do love some of them. I prefer [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] to [name_f]Annette[/name_f] though.
[name_f]Corinne[/name_f] - this is lovely when pronounced “kor-IN”. Not so good when it’s “kor-EEN”.
[name_u]Teal[/name_u] - better as a quirky mn choice
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f] - this name just rolls off the tongue!
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] - Elegant and full of vintage charm.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] - one of my favourite flower names
[name_u]Dominique[/name_u] - “ique” names are not stylish anymore
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] - an ancient and uncommon name but I’m not crazy about the “corn” part.
[name_f]Sidonie[/name_f] - hats off to [name_m]French[/name_m] author [name_f]Colette[/name_f]. [name_f]Sidonie[/name_f] was her real name.
[name_f]Thais[/name_f] - better in the middle spot.
[name_f]Alma[/name_f] - I’ve grown to appreciate the sweet simplicity of this name.

Merit- charming, cute, works well for both genders
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]- love! classic, elegant, royal and literary
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f]- sweet, pretty, princessy
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]- feels very vintage/historical [name_m]French[/name_m], even medieval (when I was little I loved this novel about [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_f]France[/name_f] when I was little that had a [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f])
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]- fresh and peppy, unique but usable. historical usage but feels modern
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]- sweet vintage-chic Dutch name
[name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f]- feels a bit clunky to me, but great for a [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] baby
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Theda[/name_f]- [name_f]Theda[/name_f] feels harsh and hard to say, but I love [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]! antique, delicate but strong
[name_f]Annette[/name_f]- a bit plain and dated
[name_f]Corinne[/name_f]- this always sounded snobby to me, sorry
[name_u]Teal[/name_u]- very different from your other names and kind of boyish, but would make a great middle- and I love the colour, haha
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f]- a bit dated, but nice
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]- I like the prim-and-proper vibe of this name, but it sounds a bit heavy
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]- not a fan, sorry
[name_u]Dominique[/name_u]- I just think of the countries [name_f]Dominica[/name_f] and Dominican Republic, so I find it a bit odd as a name
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]- I prefer [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], but this is also beautiful and elegant
[name_f]Sidonie[/name_f]- sounds too masculine for me
[name_f]Thais[/name_f]- it reminds me of Thai, as in people from Thailand or pad thai. A bit strange. [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] or [name_f]Ana[/name_f]ïs?
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]- too clunky and old-fashioned for me, sorry. and this feels masculine to me because [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Edison[/name_m]'s middle name was [name_u]Alva[/name_u] (don’t ask why I know that)

Favourites: [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]

Merit- It’s cute, but I prefer it for a middle name spot.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]- I’m not fond of [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f]- I like the [name_f]Etta[/name_f] part of the name, though I’m not very fond of the name as a whole
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]- This name is growing on me, Ette/a is a cute nn possiblity, it would be nice to meet a little girl named [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]- Not fond of this name, a little to big of a name
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]- I don’t like this name at all, though the nn’s Nini, [name_f]Mina[/name_f] annd [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] are ok
[name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f]- I love this name
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Theda[/name_f]- I prefer the nn [name_f]Dora[/name_f] personally, but as for the full name [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] I think it may be becoming hipsterish
[name_f]Annette[/name_f]- A little dated, maybe [name_f]Minette[/name_f]? I really like the nn [name_f]Nettie[/name_f]
[name_f]Corinne[/name_f]- Again a little dated
[name_u]Teal[/name_u]- mn?
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f]- I’m not fond of this name
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]- love the nn [name_u]Connie[/name_u], the name’s growing on me. Reminds me of reading the Worst Witch when I was a kid
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]- [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name
[name_u]Dominique[/name_u]- I don’t have an opion on this name, bad or good
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]- Not fond of this name at all
[name_f]Sidonie[/name_f]- I don’t like this, maybe [name_u]Sydney[/name_u]?
[name_f]Thais[/name_f]- I wouldn’t know how to pronounce this sorry
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]- It’s ok, not my favourite though, maybe [name_f]Ada[/name_f]?

Favourites:
[name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]

My favorites are [name_f]Annette[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] - these always seem so overlooked to me, and they are such pretty names, not overbearing, and yet distinctive.

[name_f]Constance[/name_f] is another underused beauty.

[name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] - there’s something intriguing about this spelling. I like it. [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f].

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is adventurous and bold. I like it.

These are okay, not really my personal style, but I think they are fine:

[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_f]Corinne[/name_f]
[name_u]Teal[/name_u] (pet name Ducky is brilliant)
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f]
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sidonie[/name_f]
[name_f]Thais[/name_f]
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]

I don’t care for…
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] - just not appealing to me
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f] - makes me think of Marionette puppets
Merit - I want to love it, but it seems kind of vain
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] - just too classic for my taste
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] - overly clunky
[name_u]Dominique[/name_u] - don’t care for the que

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f] could definitely work. I still like [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] just as much despite the “lymp.” I think [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] or [name_u]Olly[/name_u] is such a cute nn.

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f] is gorgeous!! I would use [name_f]Lolly[/name_f] as a nn.
