I’ve posted once before, but changed my list slightly and also seem to be stuck. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I didn’t name our first daughter until she was a couple days old (mostly b/c we couldn’t agree, but also b/c she was a month early) and the original plan was to go in with a few solid ideas, which we didn’t do last time. It put us in a very stressful situation where I was terribly afraid we would end up settling. Fortunately, we ended up with a name we both loved and that has special meaning. I want to abide by the plan this time! A few sets of first and middle names agreed upon before birth.
[name_f]My[/name_f] short list is below of possibilities for first and middle names. Can you help? I’m open to suggestions, but not a fan of trendy/popular or made-up names. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have recommendations of names to add to the list along the same styles as below or first/middle name combos with what I have listed below? [name_f]TIA[/name_f]!!
Big [name_f]Sister[/name_f]: [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] (me-sha) [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
Last name is three syllables, starts with M and ends in a vowel.
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
(is this name becoming more popular?)
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f]
(nn [name_f]Pippa[/name_f]. I love how [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] and [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] sound together as a sibling set. this is a new favorite of mine and I love that it’s a very British name as my husband studied at [name_m]Oxford[/name_m], BUT I’m afraid it will be a popular name for her age and she will be one of many Pippas, which I absolutely do not want. I like [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] so much that I’m ok with her going by the full name if there’s more than one [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] in a class so that she’s not called [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] M. Stuck on a middle name to go with it. I think it should be something short since her first and last name will be three syllables each.
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f]
(been my favorite since I was a little girl, but probably will only be used as a mn since hubby isn’t a fan)
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]
(called [name_f]Magda[/name_f] if used as a first name)
[name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] (middle name only since hubby isn’t a huge fan)
[name_u]Love[/name_u] misha we had it on our list for our first daughter but now can’t use it as it sounds very similar to our sons name. All your choices are very nice. I have an M name as do ALL 3 of my siblings it makes it very confusing for our mother when she is shouting our names. I did not like sharing a first initial w my siblings, for that reason I am only going to comment on the none M names. [name_f]Liesel[/name_f], pippa and [name_f]Greta[/name_f] are amazing!
Really like [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] - thank you! I’m going to look up [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] - never heard this one before!
Thanks for the response! I tend to lean toward M names, without meaning to do so! I do love my first daughter’s name and it was on my long list; so happy I didn’t dismiss my long list totally! If your son’s name is similar to [name_u]Mischa[/name_u], I’m sure it’s a great name. =)
I love [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]! Very beautiful
I personally think [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] or [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] sound lovely together.
[name_u]Mischa[/name_u] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] does have an exotic modern appeal and I think you do need to keep in style with this choice so the sibling set flows naturally.
So for me this rules out [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] & [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] (maybe you could have [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] as a stand alone name? I don’t believe that [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] is becoming popular, I live in the UK where there is [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] Middleton mania and I haven’t met a single one) due to these two ([name_f]Millicent[/name_f] & [name_f]Philippa[/name_f]) being too classical next to [name_u]Mischa[/name_u].
I would also rule out [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] just because I tend to find sibling names with the run of two initials awkward. A sibling set like [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] & [name_f]Clara[/name_f] just looks strange whereas [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] & [name_f]Milena[/name_f] looks visually better due to all three names sharing the same starting letter therefore when it comes to naming future a child this could restrict you.
[name_f]Greta[/name_f] & [name_f]Liesl[/name_f] both would work wonderfully well with [name_u]Mischa[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_f]Greta[/name_f]. She’s so delightful and whimsical, she looks gorgeous next to [name_u]Mischa[/name_u]. [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] & [name_f]Greta[/name_f] how lush?!
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f] a pretty rural sounding name that would work well with my leading lady ([name_f]Greta[/name_f]) as a middle name.
If I was you guys I would go with [name_f]Greta[/name_f] [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f]!!
thanks so much! I love [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] and [name_f]Greta[/name_f] [name_f]Liv[/name_f] - I actually put [name_f]Liv[/name_f] on my long list for a middle name! I didn’t think of these two together. I also really, really like [name_f]Elsa[/name_f].
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f] are the clear-cut winners to me! I really like [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] [name_f]Liesl[/name_f] as a combo. Some other suggestions:
As for who ranks third, I can’t choose! [name_f]Liesl[/name_f] and [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] seem to go best with [name_u]Mischa[/name_u], but not if [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] would be called [name_f]Millie[/name_f]. I really like [name_f]Liesl[/name_f] and [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] as a sibset.
thank you so much for the feedback and thoughts! This is really helpful. I am leaning toward putting [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] and [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] back on the long list for now. I think you’re right that they don’t go well with [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] being longer and more old-fashioned. I really like the idea of first and middle names of both girls going together in the same style. I’m playing around with [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] by itself instead of [name_f]Philippa[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Greta[/name_f] [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]. I agree; [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] and [name_f]Greta[/name_f] together are so sweet. thx again for the input and ideas!
I think [name_f]Magda[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] would be too similar to [name_u]Mischa[/name_u]. I love [name_f]Greta[/name_f] and [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] (as a full name). [name_m]How[/name_m] about:
