Baby girl #2

We have a daughter named [name]Julia[/name] and are expecting her baby sister in a few months. I’ve posted here before but we are now starting to narrow down our choices. The top contenders seem to be:

[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Isabelle[/name]

I also love [name]Josephine[/name], which I almost used for [name]Julia[/name], and would consider it again, but my husband’s name begins with a “J” so we’d have three J-names in the family which might be too much.

Opinions, and middle name ideas, are welcome!

I’d personally say [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Eleanor[/name].

Personally, I love [name]Isabelle[/name]. I’m obviously biased, but [name]Isabelle[/name] has been my favorite girls’ name for years now and I think [name]Julia[/name] and [name]Isabelle[/name] are very sweet together.

My second choice would be [name]Eleanor[/name]–I think [name]Julia[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] are very sweet together and I love how classic [name]Julia[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] both are, I love how their histories go back thousands of years. They’re beautiful. [name]Isabelle[/name] is still my favorite, but I do love [name]Eleanor[/name] a lot.

[name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name] are great, too, and I love their nn options–I just prefer [name]Isabelle[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name], personally. I think something like [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] or [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] would be lovely, if you don’t mind doubling up.

I think all of these work, but [name]Elizabeth[/name] is my favorite.

[name]Eleanor[/name] is my pick! Second pick would be [name]Isabelle[/name]…although I’m biased since this is my name.

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Julia[/name]! I think [name]Julia[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] go the best together but all of your options would be beautiful!

[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] sounds like a great name to me!

Am loving [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Julia[/name]. It’s sounds absolutely fantastic as a sib-set.

I love [name]Eleanor[/name]. It is definitely my pick with [name]Julia[/name].

[name]Eleanor[/name]. What about using [name]Josephine[/name] as mn? [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is very pretty.

Thanks for all the replies. I’m loving [name]Eleanor[/name] these days, too, but don’t love nn’s [name]Elle[/name] or [name]Ellie[/name]. My husband loves [name]Isabelle[/name] the most. [name]Elizabeth[/name] seems like the safest choice, and we would probably call her [name]Lizzie[/name]. No one seems to like [name]Margaret[/name]!

[name]How[/name] popular does [name]Eleanor[/name] seem to be these days? I don’t know too many baby Eleanors, personally, but I know there are a lot out there. Wherever we go there is always another [name]Julia[/name], and I’d sort of hoped to avoid that with my 2nd child, but I do tend to like classic names. Thanks.

Also would love to hear some ideas for combos with middle names. [name]Clare[/name]/[name]Claire[/name]/[name]Clara[/name] is a top contender for us in the mn spot for all these names.

I actually like [name]Margaret[/name] the best. [name]Julia[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name] sounds adorable together. [name]Eleanor[/name] is lovely too, I like nn [name]Ellie[/name] but there are lots of them (at least here in [name]England[/name]).

[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is a nice combo. ([name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Claire[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Claire[/name].)

There are a lot of Elles and Ellies here in the states too, which is part of why I’m not liking it so much and want to avoid it. Maybe it’s inevitable to call [name]Eleanor[/name] that occasionally, the way we call [name]Julia[/name] “Juju” or “[name]Jules[/name]” casually, but she would never be known by that (as long as we can help it!).

I like [name]Isabelle[/name] and [name]Julia[/name] together

Exactly this was my first thought.

If you are worried about [name]Ellie[/name] why not hink about other great nn options for [name]Eleanor[/name]? Eh-lea? [name]Nora[/name]? come to mind and would go with [name]Julia[/name].

You could call her [name]Nora[/name] if you don’t like [name]Ellie[/name]. But I like [name]Elizabeth[/name] too, especially with [name]Lizzie[/name] as the nn.

Either [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Isabelle[/name], although [name]Elizabeth[/name] has so many better nicknames than [name]Lizzie[/name].
[name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name] always seemed a bit stuffy to me. Same with [name]Josephine[/name].
[name]Claire[/name] is a great middle name!
Suggestions:
[name]Meg[/name] as a nn for [name]Margaret[/name] - I have never liked [name]Maggie[/name]
or an offshoot of [name]Margaret[/name] - [name]Marguerite[/name], [name]Marjorie[/name], [name]Margot[/name], [name]Molly[/name], [name]Maisie[/name], [name]Daisy[/name], [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Greta[/name]
Have you thought about [name]Claire[/name] as the first name? Or [name]Clara[/name]? Or [name]Clarice[/name]? If your husband’s name starts with J and so does your daughter’s, and your name starts with C, then you could have your other daughter’s name start with a C.
C names: [name]Cassandra[/name], [name]Colette[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Cora[/name], [name]Cordelia[/name]?
Good luck!

[name]Eleanor[/name] sounds lovely with [name]Julia[/name], and I also really like the sound of [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Julia[/name].

If you’re unsure about [name]Ellie[/name]/[name]Ella[/name]/[name]Elle[/name] nicknames for [name]Eleanor[/name], you could always go with [name]Nora[/name]/[name]Nell[/name]/[name]Nella[/name].

[name]Clara[/name] is fantastic - I would even use it as a first name, and I think [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Clara[/name] sounds nice.

I love [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name]. Personally, I’m less concerned with the “perfect sib-set” and more inclined to pick a name I really love, as long as stylistically they’re somewhere on the same page.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name] are both amazing! I think [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Isabelle[/name] are okay.
