We are having our third girl and are struggling with names. Irish and Italian influences are great because of our heritage, but most of them my husband doesn’t like. I am thinking probably sticking with a name that ends with a because of our other two girls. Any suggestions would be helpful! Some names that have not been totally eliminated are
[name]Athena[/name]
[name]Alida[/name]
[name]Sabrina[/name]
[name]Nadia[/name]
[name]Karenna[/name]
[name]Alida[/name]
[name]Juliana[/name]
[name]Leola[/name]
[name]Novella[/name]
[name]Mirella[/name]
[name]Thea[/name]
You have some nice names there! I would rank them, in order from favorite to least favorite:
Nadia - Gorgeous! Though definitely not Italian or Irish
Alida (Aletta is the Italian version)
Thea
Julianna (you could also choose Giuliana, an Italian variation, but the spelling is a little more difficult)
Novella - like the sound of this one, but the similarity to the word novel kind of bothers me.
Mirella - LOVE it, and it would be ranked first, but I feel like it is just too similar to Mattea and Fiona would be the odd one out.
Leola
Karenna
Athena
Sabrina - Only one I genuinely don’t like; has a dated feel to me for some reason - try Sabina or Serafina
Some Irish suggestions (though you may have already vetoed them): Ciara/Ceara (prn KEER-a), Eachna (prn ahk-na; could be issues with spelling and pronunciation, but I like the name and she would have a beautiful namesake! Also it might be too “out-there” for you…), Moira, Orla, Tara (technically Irish though it has a dated feel IMO), Una/Oona, Alana/Alannah, Brianna, Catrina/Catriona, Honora
Some Italian suggestions (there are SO many Italian names ending in a; I’ll just list a few but if you want the connection there are definitely tons to choose from): Chiara (prn kee-AHR-a), Alessia, Aurelia, Livia, Giulia (shorter form of Julianna/Giuliana), Viviana, Violetta, Catarina, Liliana, Oriana, Emilia, Aurora
Good luck making your decision! You should be able to find a name you both love!
Thank you for your input. I love [name]Aletta[/name]! I hope my husband likes it. Thanks for the other Irish and Italian suggestions. Most of them my husband has already vetoed. Men’s opinions can be challenging!
[name]Athena[/name] - I like [name]Alethea[/name] better, but [name]Athena[/name] is fine.
[name]Alida[/name] - I prefer [name]Aletta[/name], as someone else suggested. [name]Aletta[/name] is amazing!
[name]Sabrina[/name] - Feels dated, I automatically think of [name]Sabrina[/name], the Teenage Witch.
[name]Nadia[/name] - Really like this. It has a different feel than [name]Fiona[/name] and [name]Mattea[/name] to me, though.
[name]Karenna[/name] - Not bad, but not my favorite.
[name]Juliana[/name] - I like it. Good nn options.
[name]Leola[/name] - Not a fan.
[name]Novella[/name] - Not a fan.
[name]Thea[/name] - I like it. I prefer [name]Alethea[/name] nn [name]Thea[/name].

[name]Giada[/name]
[name]Giovanna[/name]
[name]Giulia[/name]
[name]Kaira[/name]
[name]Mirella[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name]

[name]Kaia[/name]
[name]Mila[/name]
[name]Ariana[/name]
[name]Gabriella[/name]

I like [name]Thea[/name], [name]Novella[/name], [name]Nadia[/name] and [name]Sabrina[/name] best. I think it would sound great if you picked another 3 syllable name with the same amount of letters or so. I like [name]Sabrina[/name] best, [name]Nadia[/name] second best.
