Baby girl #4 NEEDS a name 💕

Baby girl #4 came a few weeks early and still doesn’t have a name at 2 days old!

Our other daughters are Brinley, Vaila, and Ellette (we call her Lettie 80-90% of the time).

We each will like a name for a few minutes, but can’t find the right fit so far. Any suggestions welcome!

So far my top contenders are:
Amma
Clemma (husband does not like)
Clea
Solely (last name also with an S, so this one sounds weird)
Della (big no from my husband)

We can’t even articulate the style we like, but love a sweet nickname potential and 2 syllables or less seem to fit our little girl.
Thanks for the help!

What about Cecilia and calling her Cissy (or Sissy) since she is the baby sister. And the beginning “S” sound of it may go with the S in your last name? It’s sweet.

Or…

Clea

Celeste or Cecily, nn CeCe

Gaia - it means Girl and is name for the Greek goddess of the Earth, which is the fourth element in nature.

Selah - pronounced “See-lah.” It sounds like Clea but has the S sound to go with your last name. It has several nice meanings too.

Susannah or Sullivan nn Sully

Miriam nn Mimi

Tetra - means four

Petra

Aurora nn Rory or Aura - look up background regarding four horses

Freyja - pronounced “Fray-Ya.” -look up background. Also feels in line with Vaila.

Ivy (is also like the Roman numeral for four IV)

Phoebe nn Bee

Sosie or Sosia
-which mean “safe, whole, unwounded.” It’s a French version of a Latin word. Quite pretty and feminine, yet unique. And given that she arrived several weeks early, perhaps fitting, hopefully. You could either name her Sosia and use Sosie as the nickname, or just name her one or the other.

Solely is really the only one from your list that may not work well for her. By definition, and inference, it means “only,” or “solitary, existing alone,” and clearly as the youngest of 4 she won’t be doing that! Haha. Otherwise, Solely would mean “related to the bottom of the foot.” And she may not want that. Especially as the “bottom” of four. But perhaps something close to it like Sully or Sosie would be an acceptable alternative?

Another idea is to ask her sisters if they have any ideas. They might surprise you! And it could be neat for them and sweet if they pick the keeper. Or, you could eventually also select your top 5 choices and have friends and family do an anonymous vote - although be careful with this, as you don’t want anyone giving opinions. Would need to be strictly anonymous vote. Otherwise you could be subject to inappropriate comments or advice. Or the Nameberry website allows you to post polls in the forum too. This could be used to narrow your selections and be better than a family vote. Sometimes it’s best to keep names a secret from family until decided.

Overall don’t worry or feel badly though, you aren’t the first parent this has happened to and won’t be the last. And in the scheme of things a few days isn’t that long. I had a friend take 6 months to name her baby! Not sure how that worked with the birth certificate but it may not be true that you have to leave the hospital with a name for her, despite what nurses might tell you. You may want to have someone research that for you. Or you can always change it later if needed. Don’t worry about other people’s judgement, it’s not their baby! And it’s more important she has a name that you love and feel is fitting and deserving of her. As opposed to naming her just to give her a name or answer everyone’s question.

I hope this helps. Are any speaking to you more since initially posting?

Congrats!

[name_f]Clea[/name_f] is cute!

Maybe [name_f]Allaire[/name_f] (Ah-lair)? it fits the diversity/slight international flair of your girls well and comes with a lovely meaning? Could be called [name_f]Alli[/name_f] or Airy.

A few others:
[name_f]Prisca[/name_f] “Pria, [name_u]Izzy[/name_u], Prissy”
[name_f]Corrine[/name_f] “Cora, [name_f]Rin[/name_f], Rinny”
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] (too close to [name_f]Ellette[/name_f]? [name_f]Essie[/name_f], Stell, Stella)

Hopefully these help
